Rarity of rare items

I played live so I know how rare items can be. I am trying for an item in miel b from Trink the recluse. I have killed him 20 times now each time getting the common drop. Twenty kills at half an hour a piece is ten hours and that is not counting that the named doesn't spawn half the time. Have I just been unlucky? Does the rare item no longer drop? The wiki shows the rare item as being on his loot table. I guess I am just frustrated.
 
Can you buy this item?

There were items that used to be in game that required weeks worth of camping to get, and even then, you weren't guaranteed to get it. Some items are supposed to be more rare than others. The first that comes to mind is of course the canni item in The Deep, but that's no longer in game (the zone, and as such the item no longer drops). It is an example of an item that is not meant for everyone to have, where only the truly dedicated players attain.

If the item is droppable, I suggest just buying it, unless you're getting exp. where you're camping this mob. Otherwise, it's really not worth it. No PP amount is worth losing levels and AA's.
 
From What I could gather, Trisk the Recluse only has 1 item drop ( that crappy ring ) or the other is just super rare. I spent a good 100+ hours in Miel B at the frenzy camp killing the acolytes. I must of killed Trisk a good 50+ times and never seen anything besides that ring.
 
The other item is just super rare. I've never gotten it, but I've seen it enough times to know that it does exist. Whether or not it still drops, I don't know.
 
Amazing, the pop after I posted dropped the cloak that gives invis. This is a great item for a melee player. I will not sell it and certainly haven't seen it for sale. I will also not stay and get another one!

Cloak that gives invis? Interesting. That item must be incredibly rare, because the haste cloak he drops is pretty damn rare its self, and i've farmed 2 of them having never seen a cloak that gives invis. Might be worth another week in mielb.

If anyone was curious, I have it on my monk Korra, bought it for 1k or so which I thought wasn't too bad :)

Oh right Sizgrit the Offerer drops the haste cloak.... even though i read Trisk my mind was like zomg Sizgrit.... awesome... gotta spend a little more time on those mobs <3
