I have never seen Emerald Maw most likely because after being spotted by any player the big guilds come on and kill it, but I think you might want to change the Rangers Quest #1 because I have been scanning for this mob forever, well about 3 weeks on and off, and no such luck =(

Hhehe i know this isnt going to help any but everytime i have ran through that zone i alway run into him if not up front and personal always on track.But anyway good luck on your hunt fir him.

Hmm, I did this quest two times now and each time I found Emerald Maw within a few minutes.

Try this:
Go to the quest guy and get a new pouch.
Head to Mistwoods and search for EM

I'm not sure if cross-zone spawning is even possible, but it seems that EM spawns when you start the quest.

Might be worth a try

EMaw doesn't spawn when you start the quest, simply because this would mean that any guild could chain-spawn him and essentially farm him 10 or 20 times per night.
