Ranged Command?

Don't know if anyone else has ever posted anything about this or if it's been debated at all, but would it be possible to implement a command or keyboard shorcut that would allow you to auto attack with ranged weapons? Thanks in advance for any responses.

its been talked about b4 and I believe that it was decided it would make ranged atks too easy/trivial so I would say its not gonna happen

its not really fair to, a ranger would only have to root a mob, press auto fire and then he can go off do anything he wants... rather then haveing to fire each arrow himself!

Then walk back to a dead ranger because Root will break very easily from arrow damage...

The other game added a feature like this... And it made bad rangers even worse. It would stay on between switching targets and there was lots of broken mez... accidental pulls... just messy blood and guts everywhere.

What about a limited auto range attack?

A normal single shot range attack, and an auto range attack of say 5 shots per click?

As many have already said, there currently exists auto melee, so why not auto range?

While i myself am not opposed to an auto-ranged attack in certian ways you really need to look at it from a dev perspective rangers do alot of dmg with bows. If 6 ppl on a raid botted rangers, which would be very easy to do without the need to switch over and hit the range attack button, the overall dps would go up and with little or no risk. Most of the time the ranger would be out of AoE range would be getting hit and just rack up silly dmg.

On the other hand I can see it being a pain to click all day long and i feel bad for rangers, but cant the same be said of rogues? Dont they need to click on BS to obtain thier best dmg? why not auto backstab? or next auto taunt? auto bash? Its a slippery slope and a slope the Devs in the past have avoided and for good reason.

That is a rather idiotic statement, in which I hope you were being sarcastic. I wouldn't go off and do whatever even if I just plain rooted a mob.

Ranger bow dps isnt that great, honestly. You'd get better damage botting a monk or something and just autoattacking - same argument can be said about that (overall, there is very little "risk" with botting a melee character and leaving him engaged with autoattack while you're off DCing or whatever).

Oh, and that comment about root: very, very rarely does root hold past the first 1-2 arrows.
