Ok I ran a search and looked through the results and couldn't find my answer so I'm just going to post it.

How exactly does group exp work?
I have asked several 60+ people and they all give me different answers.

Some say that the group bonus is only there so no matter how many people are in the group you will always get 50% of the exp. They support this by saying 6 people, 100% exp +200% bonus = 300%/6 = 50, or 4 people = 100% bonus, 200%/4 ='s 50

Some say the exp is always split by 2, so if you duo you get 50% but if you add a 3rd person everyone gets 100%, if you ad a 4th everyone gets 150%, even if there is 6 people in the group everyone would get 250%. They suppose this by saying it makes people group instead of duo.

I get several different answers. So if I could get a reply from someone who knows the real answer I would really appreciate it. Thankyou

The way I heard it was that each mob gives 100% XP. Solo you get it all, 2 get 50% each, 3 get same 50%, 4 get same 50, 5 get same 50, 6 get same 50.

I do not know about XP in linked groups at all though.

If there is one person in the group (solo), you get 100% of the exp. If there are 2, you each get 50%. If 3, you each get 1/3 but also a 50% group bonus. If 4, 1/4 each plus 100%. etc, etc. Taking a look at the math: 1/3 + 50% = .5 ... 1/4 + 100% = .5 Basically for any size group, assuming all are the same level, each person gets the same exp as if they were in a duo. Solo exp is best, but if you are going to form a group then the more the merrier. Adding more ppl to your group doesn't cut your exp per kill and should increase your kill rate resulting in more exp/hr.

That's correct.

If a mob gives 100% exp and you solo it, you will receive 100% exp + 0% bonus, i.e. 100%.
If a mob gives 100% exp and you duo it, you will receive 100% exp + 0% bonus split between the two of you, i.e. 100%/2 = 50% each.
If a mob gives 100% exp and you 3-man it, you will receive 100% exp + 50% bonus split between three people, i.e. 150%/3 = 50% each.
If a mob gives 100% exp and you 6-man it, you will receive 100% exp + 200% bonus split between six people, i.e. 300%/6 = 50% each.
If a mob gives 100% exp and you 7-man it, you will receive 100% exp + 200% bonus split between seven people, i.e. 300%/7 ~ 43% each.

And this goes on. Linking group does not remove exp bonus like it used to, so there really is no reason to restrict your groups to 6 people, since the 14% exp you lose from an additional member, you will easily make up for, in killing.

Okay I assume that this breakdown is for groups of individuals close in level.

I am wondering how the system works for a group of widely differing levels. Not that I need to have an exact fromula but what is the maximum realistic spread? Is the spread fixed or does it increase at higher levels?

First, dumbass topic title! Jeez. Second, this has all been mentioned before, though perhaps before the new 'messages' appeared in-game, but the exp system was the same for 1 group then. Third, and to answer your last question hopefully, the exp is determined by the highest level member in the group. So when taking into account the formulas posted here, simply understand that the halved exp (re grouping) is always half the exp that the highest level member of the group would have gotten if he solo'd the mob. This seems to be regardless of who else is in the group. Hope this is somewhat clearer now!
