Rain spells question

Hello everybody,

I have a few quick questions regarding rain spells.

1) I seem to recall that a while ago, they were changed so that only one rain spell can be in effect in a given area at any time... Do I remember correctly?

2) Is there a cap to the number of waves that can hit from a given spell? From what I recall of Live, I think there was a cap of 4 (i.e. you could hit one mob 3 times, or two mobs 2 times, or 2 mobs once + 1 mob twice, or 4 mobs once)?

3) Are there any risks if a non-PvP player casts a rain spell in the vicinity of a PvP player?

Thanks!

Rains do 3 waves of damage each time to maximum of 2 mobs.
They won't hit pvp players if you're not pvp.
They cause less aggro than direct nukes, but have lower chance to crit.
You can use as many rains in a single area as you want.

With the recast time being limited/long cast time and the fact that rain spells only last 18 seconds, you will be lucky to get more than 2 going at once with an overlap of 1 wave normally, 2 waves if you are really fast.

But, rain spells are AWESOME! Get a few mages doing rains at the same time and the damage is amazing!

Yeah, I was more concerned with several magicians/wizards being in the same party and their respective rains not stacking.

Does a Druid's Cascade of Hail count as a rain spell? Sounds like one, but I haven't tried it on multiple mobs yet.

Two or three Mages stacking two rains plus an Enchanter cursing it. Mmmmmm. DPS.

What colour is the spell gem? If it's green, it's a regular AoE. If it's blue, it's a PBAoE. If it's orange, it's an AoE Rain.

Regular AE- Spell strikes in an area around your target

AE rain- Spell strikes in 3 waves spaced 6 seconds apart around your target able to hit up to 2 targets per wave.

PBAE- Point blank area of effect centered around the caster

Hm, maybe it's different because I'm using a different UI and icons? It has a blue icon, but that seems to have more to do with the fact that it's a cold-based spell. I noticed last night that I was getting hit with the Hail when Root broke on my target and it got too close... so, it seems like a regular AE spell.

Rains are pretty happy, its my general spell of choice for soloing something if the area isnt tight. The lower aggro stacked w/ talok's taunting echoes on the pet makes angry things hitting me much much less common. Though pbaoe's ive never used much at all. I think just about the only thing I use them for is clearing graverats, and for that they're fantastic.

Hehe, I finally took the time to notice. It's orange. An AoE rain. No wonder I was getting hit by it.
