I participated in the defense of Athica last night and then the follow-up in Gfay, Lfay and Steamfont. For most of that time I was on my Paladin, Fivof, often groupless, but nonetheless doing my part. Overall I had a good time with this server-wide event.
However, I was disappointed with some people complaining of raid stalking or similar.
The first time was the Athica B ZL. Someone shouted that there were mobs there and a few, including me, ran to help out. After the incursion was killed, I read someone complain about that being their area. That was puzzling, and I assumed someone was joking.
After Athica was freed, I was initially groupless again, and ended up being in a group that the main raid did not want. This was fine by me and we ended up forming our own raid, but we really just wanting to participate in the liberation of zones.
This is the main point. This force was treated like a band of lepers. Accused of raid stalking and so forth. Gm's clarified for our raid several times that all raid forces are considered equal in a war zone and there is no such thing as raid stalking during war events. More importantly, this is a game guys. And yes, my little raid force had some toons that were not going to contribute a whole lot. But they are real people playing those toons and they were excited to be participating in this server-wide event. I don't think it would have hurt to let them do their part. If you want your own private area to hunt in, there are plenty of raid zones with rules established. War events are intentionally open to everyone on the server.
I am asking whoever it was, to be nicer to other players during these events.
[Disclaimers: I am not complaining about myself. I was happy to solo (which is why I brought a Paladin) and I only rolled once for loot and even then did not really care if I won the loot. And, yes, my character was up to the challenge of a war (tier 3 ish gear with over 100 AA's). And I was offered a guild group shortly after Athica was liberated, so it is not about wanting a group. I also did not recognize any of the names making a stink, so this is not personal.]
