Raid mob AoEs, LoS, and you.

As of last week, most raid encounters with AoE spells are broken and unbeatable. Why? The AoEs completely ignore Line of Sight. Some fights are completely dependent on players staying out of LoS for these spells (Warden of Torment, Gharontosh, Yashira all come to mind). Some AoEs are also overlapping and being cast multiple times. Coupled with ALL portals in Thazeran's Tower becoming KoS mobs, raiding has completely stopped for some guilds. I don't see why people feel the need to fix things that aren't broken, but it's ridiculous because it's breaking things that weren't a problem in the first place.
 
Also it would be nice to be informed when they are in fact fixed, or if it is known that they are still broken it would be nice to know before clearing. I have been trolling IRC since the maintainence patch yesterday asking if it contained the fix and have not once been answered. I also petitioned asking, which probably isn't really a petition, but it is ridiculous that instead of being answered with a simple Yes or No, my petition was "Solved" with no response. I'm not trying to pester GMs or Admins since I know there is a lot on the plate atm with Dawntide etc, but it is really lame to either not have any targets or waste plenty of time clearing to find out which are fine.

I saw your request today, but had no clue what was done during the patch let alone that there even was one yesturday.  Sorry guys. :(

Yea I understand that a lot of the staff probably doesn't know what is going on, but my petition had to be closed by someone. It kinda irks me that they either didn't know and closed it instead of passing it on, or knew and didn't bother to answer. I really am not trying to whine for it to be fixed, I just wish there was more communication about the issue.
 
It's possible that it was accidentally closed. I've done it before -- I was going to close petition 1 and a petition 2 comes in basically when I'm typing the command to close the first petition and I typoed.

Anyway, we're not trying to be close-lipped about it, but most of the GMs simply don't know when coding is changed because they aren't involved in it. It's something that Wiz did, and it wasn't "to fix things that aren't broken." He simply hasn't been around lately, hence the ongoing issue.
 
The 'fixing things that aren't broken' comment was about the portals. Can't really change a mobs AI/faction type without going into the DB. Pretty hard to change it on accident.
 
No clue here, also didn't close a petition. I'm an old man and fell asleep on the couch otherwise I would have talked to you again. But really it's the same, I have no idea.
 
:( So raiding in Thaz tower is effectively stopped for the most part, as one entire lower wing is dependent on these portals, an event in another wing, and ALL of upper Thaz is completely dependent on the portals working. The portal mobs are now KoS to everyone instead of indifferent to everyone, it doesn't seem like that hard of a fix, especially since no one knows when Xeldan might be back.

The portal for the lower fire boss seemed to be working

They're actually supposed to be KoS by default(only a select few are indifferent). That's how they port you right now; I'll see about getting everything converted over to the area system if possible so the portals can be done away with entirely. But on that topic, PM me with what's causing it to be unraidable if you can.
 
When I tried to do Traekoth a couple days ago, Traekoth's 450DD AoE was hitting through the terrain barriers. We tried both a large rock, and a pillar thing, and casters on the opposite side were still getting hit. Was this changed on purpose, or is this a bug? Not being able to have the healers/casters protected from that rather nasty AoE made the encounter impossible. (with the group we had anyways - which was far from ideal. We only got him down to like 70%).
 
The rocks/pillars in darkwood do not block LOS because they are not made to block LOS (they are hollow).
