Race Wars Pvp!

Hey yall I was just thinking of an amazing Idea for SoD. Just a suggestion 2 throw out there but a race oriented pvp server or make it 2 where your able 2 have Race wars on sod! I think it would be fun and maybe bring in more of a crowd for those that love pvp! I just think it would be a good Idea. Gotta think those who are bored grinding or questing all day and just want 2 do something different or just want something to do! well if they got bored head out and gather with you elf or gnome buddys and go out and kill some trolls or ogres! Example all elf like races High Elf, Wood Elf, Half Elf, are considered 2 be in a group then you have the humans, Froglok, gnome, vah, hafling, Erudite, then another group would be the Dark Elfs, Ogres, Iksar, Troll! I just think it would bring a new twist 2 the game! It might be hard with the whole balancing but Ive herd and seen other servers doin pvp! it might be a little time consuming. I was having this conversation with people and they were telling me how they would have no problem donating if there was some type of Pvp! I dont know if this would happen with all the people that play but it might happen with some! I know im planing on donating monthly To help keep the server goin because I appreciate all the hard work and effort that the gm's and dev's have put into sod but all in all just thought it would be a good idea or if anything make a pvp for donaters only! that might cause alot more donations as well but just a suggestion! I'm honestly not sure whether this is a serious suggestion or if this is a parody of the monthly "please copy Sullon Zek" request.

If it's the former, I'll add in a "please no" vote.

If it's the latter, parody threads belong in "Loose Platinum".

I don't think the devs would consider making everyone have to engage in pvp. Most people play on this server because they enjoy the pve aspects. All of a sudden forcing them to engage in pvp from time to time would be a huge turn off to many of these people.

I think a better way to attack it would be to have a pvp dev that first and foremost balances the classes in pvp. This isn't an easy task, but there are many basic improvements that can be made to bring classes more close in balance. Such as, increasing hit boxes for pvp, decreasing dots to half damage, etc.

I do agree that many people would be more interested in playing this server if it had more, and more balanced pvp. The last eq pvp server I played on got up to 50-180 players online at any given time after about a year of being out. I think this could greatly increase the player base, but it would also take some work.

I also think that pvp would have to be optional, as to not upset the current expectations of people that play on this server solely for it being pve. It could definitely be done though!


Edit: the sheer number of people requesting this server's pvp aspects be improved should be a good indicator of the number of people interested in this.
