Quick mana regen question

So first off I'm pretty new to the server and having a great time by the way...I currently partner with a cleric fiend of mine who likes to sit and med while I fight

I did some research on the Wiki on mana regen and found that meditation after getting on the hate list ie. first heal, does not work, but what I didn't find is if sitting increases mana regen above the norm dispite the fact meditation stops.

I play a BL and tested it a bit when my pet got aggro, and it didn't look like sitting worked at all.

Any info will be appreciated, I would like to get my Cleric off her butt to help fight if there is no battle regen at all.

Thanks

Meditation works while you have aggro, it just takes 30 sec of doing nothing to enter trance.

You get no where near mana regen from meditation while in combat than when you are not in combat; i.e. medding in combat to get to full mana will take you significantly more time than it would take medding out of combat to get to full mana, maybe 5x slower in combat or so (guesstimation from my experience).

what dictates these relative rates is there is an in-combat regeneration cap and out-of-combat regeneration cap.

ngl, cleric melee dps can get mean. i would whip out a hammer, some yaulp, and go to town on the mobs instead of sitting and medding. once the cleric gets divine rage later on it will prove awesome to have their melee skills up there.

You can enter a meditative trance in combat or out. You will get significantly faster mana recovery while being both in a meditative trance and out of combat. You can not enter a meditative trance until 30seconds after you cast your last spell. Sitting mana regen rate is the same as standing when you are not in a meditative trance.

Wiz also posted in the thread, but it didn't talk specifically about in combat medding.

A couple of years ago I was wondering the same things so I did some research/experiments to figure out how it worked. I have pasted my notes below (keep in mind things may have changed):

At 65, you gain 7 mana regen per tick (includes AA's), irrespective of whether you're standing, sitting or fighting.

Most types of mana regen take effect equally irrespective of whether you're sitting, standing, fighting etc.
AA's - At 65 you get 4 points of base mana regen. This can be increased to 7 with AA's.
Items - Items effects can also give mana regen. Flowing thought, Seeking Mind etc. Item regen caps at 20.
Spells - KEI give 14, JB gives 18, SL gives 3, SB gives 8, potg gives 6, won gives 8. Spell/song regen caps at 30.

Meditation is a little bit different to the other forms of mana regen.
- It only takes affect if you are in a trance.
- In order to enter a trance, you must not have cast a spell in the previous 30 seconds and must be seated.
- If you are trancing in combat, you gain approximately 10% of your total meditation skill in mana regen.
- If you are trancing outside of combat, you gain approximately 40% of your total meditation skill in mana regen.
- Like all skills, meditation can only be increased an additional 25 points using items.
