Questions before I start...

Okay, so I read in the SoD Wiki that gnomes are rather hard to play as. However, I still wish to create one, in remembrance of my main Live character. Is there a way that I could theoretically get my gnome to civilized lands without dying? Would I need to get a higher level person to teleport me, or is there another way I could safely get to...say...Erudin or Newport? Thanks for any advice that shall be given!

Definitely. You can travel just about anywhere via the mansion of portals. In fact, there is a portal to major cities, including Newport. While I always thought Newport was a nice newbie area to start in, all races do start in "civilized lands" so you will have stuff to fight there (depending on wherever gnomes start nowadays).
