i know this is free and everything and i appreciate it a lot :eek:D all of us do, but... is there any way some of these bugs can be addressed, like the group bug, tell bug.. and A LOT more server stablity would be freakin awesome
 
The staff are working hard at addressing any known bugs. The best way to have something fixed is to /bug it. Most of the bugs are already known and im sure they are already being worked on. Just have a little faith/patience. Also keep in mind all of the things that they are also doing. Like having just implemented smithing, new quests and the like. While we all experience these bugs that do exist, i for one do understand that they know about them and work to fix them but there is more to do than just fix bug_01.
 
If you think that's bad, you should have tried playing here two years ago. You couldn't group and zone, had to reform after each zone, not to mention there was about 300% more annoying bugs back then.


Trust me, bugs get fixed here at a very fast rate. If you saw the difference of two years ago and, today your jaw would drop.

Not even a year, try maybe 5 months ago =)

So uh, how about you go ahead and describe these things
 
1 - /buglist in game
2 - bug list page accessed from main page
3 - group bugs are minimal right now... wiz did some fixes shortly before SoD came up and it cleared up a lot of reason to actually NEED to camp when group bugged, atm the group bugs can be fixed by spamming disband about 5 times.
4 - tell bugs are something thats very moot imo... the effort to fix it would outweigh the benefit from it being fixed.... /role /role
5 - Whats up with server stability?
 
Issues with the mouse...

IE, no mouse control on start...

loss of mouse control on death...

that kind of thing...

are all SOE introduced Live bugs inherent to the badly mangled interface coding, and not something within the power of the Wiz to fix.

Those are not stability issues, they are usability issues. And in the big picture, they are minor ones... quite small compared to many of the server unique features such as adepts, redone trade skills, vendors and many other way cool things.

But since it is a free server, and the work is done by volunteers... I'm sure no one would object if you were to take the initiative to help resolve these bugs by finding the exact steps to consistently reproduce these bugs. It is much more difficult to find a "this happens when you play for a while" type bug than it is to find one that can be reproduced consistantly.

As I'm sure everyone here would agree, the worst bug out there is the lag bug that seems to hit your group in waves, where one person gets the bug, then the rest. This is definitely the worst because it gets people killed the most from my experience and in general really stops the rhythym when you're in a group. Other than that, I could live with the current bugs on this server.
 
I must be insanely lucky then. I've been playing daily, and have yet to see these crazy bugs. The only one that I witness is the daily data backup, which is a short term pain in the ass but nothing major.
 
He is referring to the packet loss bug, which tends to affect an entire group (possibly zone). Normally, when one person gets it, the rest of the group will get it as well. Most folks are in the habit of camping the entire group when this happens to avoid it happenign to everyone.

The devs are well aware of this bug (if nto how it affects full groups) and have yet to determine all the causes of it, although they have eliminated some.
 
The order in which people get the PL bug / insta LD (both seem to be the same thing, and I can't identify any indicator as to which you'll get before it happens) seems to be the same as the order in which they entered the zone. In general it seems to happen after a certain amount of time in the zone as well. When it does occur, it seems to me to generally be about 90 minutes after entering. You seem to be able to reset your timer by zoning or relogging, but a couple times it has felt like that didn't work. This is all based on casual observation, though; I haven't done any timing or recording of information.

In Venerate we refer to it as the AIDS of SoD--once one person gets it, it spreads like mad, generally to the people who are cybering with Tapein (specifically, everyone).

There are exceptions to the usual timing, such as in the NE corner of Red Sun Mines, where first the ping goes crazy (refreshing several times a second, rather than the usual every couple of seconds), sometimes lag shoots up, and then everyone gets PL bugged or LDs. In this particular area it seems to occur about every 3-10 minutes, and can be prevented if *everyone* affected relogs. If the first person to log out gets back in before the last person is out, it remains.

I know Maimai speculated that it might be related to the bridges over the lava along the eastern edge of the zone. I have no idea whether that's the case, but you don't seem to have to be within sight of them or anything of the sort. I could also imagine it being something along the lines of the switches (disabled here, but active in Live) for the doors in the fortress, or the one bridge a bit farther west that is "locked" (was lowered by another switch on Live, which is now disabled).

Or then the pet not keepings items/buffs after zoning!
 
hehe sorry, shouldve been a lil more specific, but aarielly hit it on the head, me and my guildmates from EQ live are fairly new here and for example we'll be grouping in yaralith, everything is fine, then half of us will get dropped, or what not. :eek:\
also i dunno if the server is coming down without warning or just crashing or whatnot, seems to happen later at night (not every night!)and when i log back in i get the 1017 error lol

1 other thing, when i get dropped and log back in right away, i get a client crash, it happens like 99% of the time, so i then restart SoD and log in just fine, i r not computer savy so i dont know whats going on really :eek:( just reportin what im seeing,

ps... just tried to log in 5:30 am cst and theres no server listed in the server select screen, when i hit enter it says, "EQEmu Error World Server Not Found" hehe

The server hasnt fully dropped you yet, your toon is still chillin in the world with LD above its head. If you get the PL bug and can camp, camp to char select, and come right back in.. you'll be fine. If you get dropped, dont log back in for a few minutes (2-3) to give the server time to drop your character from the world completely.
