question on resistance

I am getting resists that I am not use to. In EQ I get about 20% resists when fighting an even mob at levels 20-30. I seem to be getting extremely high resists on whites and high blues. I currently am at level 23. My focus/mind is at 190 and cha is 94 (human). I attacked 4 whites in a row. Each time I fought one solo, I died. I got no less then 75pct resist (basically landed 1 out of 4 spells). Is this intended so wizards cannot root and nuke that is fine. But if there is something wrong I would like to alert folks to it.

BTW I was using Enstill(20), Garrisons Mighty Mana Shock(20), and Flame Shock(16). When I run out of mana, I use spinfire in a valiant attempt to kill that 4-legged vermin.

Thanks for any help or information.

I think you hit a streak of extremely bad luck or some higher resist mobs. I have a 18 druid and for the past two levels I have fought db-red cons in West Badlands (the reds are lions and plague gnolls that have been and are a mix of yellow and red). Your resist rate is far worse than what i am using on reds...

snare, grasping roots, ignite, stinging swarm - and my CHA is only 75.

So could I ask what mobs you are fighting?

My enchanter is level 26 and there are some light blue mobs that I just can't get a spell to land on, buffed he has 157 cha and focus/mind is at 215. Then again there are red mobs out there that I have no trouble getting my spells to stick on. The lions in the badlands are horrible when it comes to resisting spells in my experience, I wasted an entire mana bar between trying to slow one and then an attempt to nuke the hell out of it, the only reason I survived was because my pet was able to take agro and kill it.

Bad Streak Ciaran, i could charm em fine when they were yellow to me and they still make great pets around the Badlands :D .

Haven't tried to charm one of them yet, but it seems in general that even tashed they have an absurd MR. Could just be me though heh... they're really one of the few things that give me any trouble.

I spent from 20 to 23 there. I could put a scale to measure resists. No it isn't luck. I haven't fought any other mobs in other zone, so it could be just unusally high resists to both fire and magic spells. I just hope this isn't a common problem for a wizard or I will be doing a lot of CRs (camp returns).

Thanks for the encouragement and replies. :)
