Question about starting a ShadowKnight

I was considering making a ShadowKnight but was not sure what would be the best race or where to put my starting classes. The races I am considering are Dark Elf, Troll, Ogre, or Iksar. I was leaning toward Ogre or Troll due to the high str and sta but they have very low cha and int. I dont know much about the class so i am not sure what is the most important. Any suggestions?
 
Most of those issues will be taken care of by gear and shaman focus. your class defining spells will be irresistible except to counterspell/reflect and the few useful offensive spells will generally have a resist adjust in your favor.

The thing you will probably most be annoyed by is how freaking big the character is, and that you will want a shrink clicky or a box class that can shrink.
 
Trolls are cool and there aren't enough trolls so I would say play a troll.
 
Starting stats are largely meaningless once you get to 65, and racials don't have enough of an impact to really matter. That being said, for a straight up min/max approach, Iksar is going to be the way to go. Ogres and Trolls have good racials too though, and Dark Elves look the coolest by far.

If you like an Ogre or Troll from a roleplaying aspect, or just because you want to play one, then do it.
 
Don't be iksar you will have horrible times in first ruins running into every lamp/broken wall/small stone oddly placed in the path and being completely stopped as your massive iksar head cant get past it and you will be unable to use an easily acquired shrink clicky to prevent it.

This

Iksars have to farm shrink items from tier 5 raid mob instead of being able to farm one off of green cons like Trolls, Ogres, Barbarians, Cat Dudes, and HUMANS

Iksars are pretty sweet though, NGL.

Real advice: be whatever you want and dump stats into agility or maybe charisma, ignore racial bonuses.

Yeah that poe hat rules and its half the casting time.
But seriously man play whatever you think rocks the most. I would probably want to start with whatever the easier beginner armor quests were if i had 0 to start with.
