The Policy Forum isn't open for questions anymore, so I guess I'll put this question here.
Is there any policy or precedent to switch old quest items to new ones when the quest items (and difficulty) for a quest changes but the reward stays exactly the same? I've been thinking, but can't remember this happening to a quest before.
My question is pretty general but it refers back to the Vah sword quest line. The Vah sword quest was in a number of years and knights have been collecting the quest pieces as they progress through the zones. Then Thaz was removed and the quest was recently modified with new quest pieces with the same difficulty to obtain to replace those that used to drop in Thaz.
The question arises, should people that spent the time and effort to collect the original quest piece have to redo that part (for the new quest) because the quest had to change due to a zone being removed?
We know from talking to the Devs which new pieces were meant to replace old pieces and that the level of difficulty were meant to be the same.
Eldritch Steel => 4 Valorium Ingots
2 Thaz Class Gems => 2 Trinkets from UC
4 Thaz elemental essences => 1 Ice chunk from PoFrost
1 Sunfire Coal => 1 Sunfire Coal
Personally, since the reward is the same, the effort to complete the quest is supposed to be the same, and the quest was changed due to a zone being unavailable and not problems with the quest itself, it seems reasonable that turn ins can be made.
Just throwing this out there in case there has been precedent on this type of situation before.
