Quad Core bug

I am experiencing a bug in which the graphics move extremely fast, slow, or contort and fly all over the place. I then tried binding to each of my cores (1-4) with no success. I couldn't even access SoD on core 3. I downloaded eq playnice and tried going through all the cores again 1-4 with no luck, just the same problems. When I log in in 1-2, it works normal until I zone once or twice. Then bad stuff happens. Any Advice on how this problem can be resolved?

Are you running the game using the SoD Patcher? Because that has an option to make the game run on one core.

I use a program called Priffinity to assign the core to an instance of eqgame no matter how I launch it. I used the patcher and it did not seem to work all the time.

I am still having trouble getting this to work. I really want to start playing again and this is the only computer I have to play on atm.

You can set affinity with task manager. Bring it up, go to processes and right click the eq process and set it to a specific processor. It should have check boxes for the individual processors. I would set the initial instance to processor 1 and second to 2, reserving 0 for system processes.

It works you need to set it to the program your using to launch the game I use eqgame so I have it set to automatically detect that instance and assign the cpu core for it, when boxin the second instance I do the same. You launch the game then open prifinitty and xhoose the process and add it to your favorites then assign the core. Also doing it this way you never have to set it again.

I'm having a similar problem after upgrading to a quad-core (AMD) system. At character select my char is just spazzing out impossibly fast, then the game crashes before I load into the world.

I've tried the PriFinitty trick, and binding to one core through the patcher, but neither seem to have an effect. Some friends have suggested its the clock speed of the processor?

any ideas?

some specs:

AMD FX 4100 Quad Core @ 3.6GHz
AMD Sapphire Radeon 6950

**edit** Fixed it, Looks like my cpu was overclocking itself to 4.5Ghz! So if anyone else is having this problem, check your clock speed in addition to the core binding techniques

Mine is overclocked to 4.6 and doesn't cause any problems. Although I set mine manually, and it's an intel not AMD. Glad you got it sorted though.
