Q&A nights

I wanted to start this post by saying how great the last Q&A night was over the summer. I thought that the interaction between Wiz and the playerbase was something that everyone had wanted for a long time. When I heard about the Q&A night, I logged in specifically for it, even though I had quit SoD to move on to other things. After the night was over, I saw how great SoD truly is, and would become. That night, I came back.

What I would like to see is more Q&A nights in the near future. I believe that the playerbase has some great ideas and questions, and an open forum on the server would be great for the devs and GMs. It would be great to be able to have nights where the devs present questions to Wiz and have him answer them in game or in IRC. I think that people would be extremely excited to hear about future projects, what direction the server is going in, and to praise Wiz and the Devs for the excellent job that they do.

If these type of nights would come to pass, I think every other month would be a good "check in" period that would make the playerbase very happy, and get some questions out on the table.

It would probably be more efficient to setup a specific forum account that all the staff could access that the players could send PM's to with questions about SoD and from those the staff and Wiz could select the best questions. Then Wiz could take the time to more accurately answer each one without feeling like he's put on the spot.

It could even become a weekly,bi-weekly, or monthly event with the answers archived and pertinent answers added to the Tome of Knowledge forum.

That's pretty much the exact same thing we have now, except it would be way more work for everybody. I agree with rurho, simply because there are some questions that a newb might have that he doesn't want to send a PM about. For example, someone might have a question about Lord Ravenwing, but it might be lore based and not really worthy of a PM. This is an opportunity to ask wiz directly for little things, or big things. If we had an open forum like we did over the summer I think that a lot of people's questions could be answered regarding the server, the staff, and content.

It's just a neat little thing that we could have once every other month that would make people happy. I think that making a separate forum account is just another hoop to jump through to get a question answered.

Great idea! If this is too time consuming for the staff, then maybe you can do it quarterly. I would also like it to be during the evening (EST or CST) as I missed the last one due to being at work. Even if we did one during the evening European time and then had the next one during an evening American time, that would be great. It is nice to have a big sample size when asking specific questions about the server.

Especially for new people who are stepping into a large pond (figuratively) of information. They might be sitting in Blackburrow while this is going on, and learning a wealth of information about the server. Then they'll invite their friends!
