I've uploaded the Wiki Map Collection, with the addition of Kedrin's wonderful new MielA map, to a publicly shared Google Drive folder. That means anyone can add labels or even upload new maps to this folder. I know a lot of people have custom maps and labels they'd like to share, so hopefully this will make that possible. Participation in this project may require a Google account. Files can be viewed and edited individually here without signing up for a Google account.
This project has no direct relationship with the maps in the patcher. Just wanted to mention this to avoid tragic disappointment. Compilations from this project may end up linked from the wiki. Maps may be used in the official patcher package, but I cannot make any guarantees that they will.
This is a community project, not a staff project. The success of this project will depend on community participation.
Standards and layers
These are the suggested map standards, those used by the maps already in the map pack. There may be some deviations from standards in the existing files (old data or my own notes), feel free to correct them. Please edit any additions to this project to match these simple standards before uploading them.
An issue with the wiki map project labels is that many were not listed with a height, and as such do not respect height-filtering (being listed with a height of 0). Feel free to replace these labels if you have more accurate locations!
Maps are divided into 4 layers: Base, _1,_2,_3.
Base should contain the map itself and any zone-related labels (usually yellow). Black lines are standard, though certainly color may be used to distinguish areas (eg, blue water) or landmarks.
_1 should be left empty. This is the default level, and the one players most often have their own, custom labels saved to. Leaving it empty makes our maps more easily merged with existing map libraries.
_2 should contain all NPC labels. Color should be 0, 127, 127. Size should be 1 (small) for all NPCs except Raid Nameds, which should be 3 (large)
_3 should contain all item labels. Color should be 127, 0, 0. Size should be 2 (medium)
Downloading the maps from Google Drive
1) Select the maps files you want. To select all of the files in the folder, tick the box next to the "Title" label at the top of the list.
2) Select Download from the More drop-down menu.
This will download all of the maps in the folder in a zip archive. You may need a program to extract them (WinRAR, 7zip, or WinZip are popular options.)
