Proc Rates and Damage

Ginam

Dalayan Adventurer
I did some parses on proc rate damage for flame-forged blade on a level 65 mob with very low resists.

For the purpose of these parses I had
Song of the Blademaster
Gift of Aegolism
Relic Focus
Lcea's Lament
Blessing of the Combine
44% haste earring

In two seperate parses, with flame forged blade in off hand then mainhand I found:

Parse 1:
Time: 4131 seconds ~ 70 minutes
Flame Procs 93
Resists 2
Crits 15
Which comes to 3.16dps

Parse 2:
Time: 2617 seconds ~45 minutes
Procs 60
Resists 0
Crits 10
Which comes to 3.29dps

These numbers are with crits, which some melee classes don't have, and 35% increased proc rate due to bard AA.
If the crits and increased proc rate is taken out, (60*123/2617/1.35)it comes out to 2.09dps
Even for my relatively low dps for a melee class, and increased reliance on procs, it is only 2.5% of my dps, or 5% of the dps for the weapon.
For a rogues, with an estimated dps of 300, and less proc dps it is only roughly 1% of their dps, or 2% for single weapon

I haven't really had time to parse with any other weapons, but from Jose's parse with farg, the proc was around 8% of his total dps.

I think the proc rate/damage/resist rate on flame-forged blade needs to be looked at, although other 1 handed melee weapons could be in the same situation.

I don't have the numbers to back it up, but I am sure Flamestrike Mace is in the same boat. Also, the few times I have noticed it actually proc, it was resisted. (This was on Sald)

Everybody I've heard from has said that blast of flame gets resisted quite a lot, and ginam was fighting a mob that had very little to no resists, and had paltry dps from the proc itself.

This thread does not need to get buried under the shadowknight and mage threads that were also posted. This is a pretty serious concern. I've felt for a while that proc-rate and general procs-as-dps were far too low. Having a proc be 1% of the weapon's dps makes the proc pointless and worthless. Procs are fun for a melee class, but if the damage is insignificant, it's simply not fun.

I did some more parsing in DN using Seraphic Voice and dragonspine cutlass.
These were done from random killing so more start/stopping etc, and was parsed using EQComp rather then manually.
For most of these I had Aego, blademaster, pot4.

Total AVG DPS:
102
DPS from seraphic voice proc: 2.86
DPS from cutlass proc: 2.56
DPS from sonic strike: 5.37
