Problem

Let me begin by saying that I am a dunce with a computer, and I would much appritiate it if any response was written while wearing the kid gloves syduck:

Well I am attempting to make a comeback to the game again after a long absence, and since the time that I played last I have gotten a new video card.

When I first attempt to play I got an error message at the patcher, and fixed this by downloading the newest version of directx. I would then encounter a situation where after patching and attempting to play I would get a message (before getting to a screen after the patcher) that a problem had been encountered and the program had to close. I repatched all at the SoD patcher, to no avail. I then patched the game.

Now when I get past the SoD patcher, it takes me to the game's disclaimer and I dont seem to be running in EQW (I could be wrong but I doubt it). It is at this point that this screen is locked in place and I am unable to move beyond it or close it. Though my mouse is able to move freely as if I were alt+tabbed out, but the screen remains. I have to restart to get rid of this screen.

I will keep working at it, but any help would be GREATLY appritiated!

Oh, and yes, I have made sure that the patcher is supposed to run from EQW.

Oh btw I run windows XP.

Also has there been a new version of the patcher released latley? I am weary to reinstall that because I recall it giving me some trouble the first time.

Now I maybe misreading this part of the information but did you only patch to SoD? If so this could be part of the problem The Start guide states you must patch to live (now GoD not LDON expansion due to end game mobs models) After you patch upto but not beyond that part, you use the SoD patcher. If you patch to SoD first, then Live. Live will overwrite the files and you will have to repatch all of SoD. SoD patcher will not repatch the unpatched items unless you tell it to repatch all.

As for your video card being new, I doubt the card is not compatible with the game. You might have simply did something out of order and caused a corruption in a few files. My recommendation is to reinstall the game, Patch to GoD on live patcher, Patch with the SoD patcher that is on the site now, and see if it works. If it does not please post here again for more help.

Also if you get 1017 problem, try again. It happens to us all from time to time.
