Problem with crystal-on-pedestal for Arcane Quest

I do not know if I am doing something wrong or if this is a bug:

As a level 10 Magician, included in my inventory is:
Enchanted wood (result of first half of quest)
Dull Crystal

I walk the following route:
Enter Blackburrow from Centaur hills
(Cast invisible)
go right about halfway to Everfrost entrance then through door on right
go down passage to lower level
at bottom split right and jump off left of bridge
head towards some equipment and a few gnolls
follow passage around either side of these to area behind them.
then *either*
... hard right then left through rising door into large room with high ramps and water
*or*
... straight through swinging door to small room and through second door
... up a rising twisty passage staying left until entering (same) large room with high ramps and water
then
drop down below ramps
walk under ramps, near to but to the right of 3 barrels
approach large rock with somewhat flat top, near gnoll seers and other gnoll types

I am under the impression that I am supposed to see a red crystal on or floating over that rock
and that clicking on it will add another crystal to my inventory ("channelling crystal"?)
I have been in there now 4 times over 2 days, totaling well over an hour inside of BlackBurrow,
looking all over that general area for other similar rooms, and carefully searching that particular room,
and have also left and right clicked all over, above and around that rock, with no results.

Two different people have /tell guided me to the same location, and the last one "Rayth" says he completed
the quest just three days ago, and from the description is sure I am looking in the right place.

Can someone help me determine whether this is a bug or, if not, what I might be doing wrong?

p.s. I like the game and have been very impressed with many of the people I have encountered playing it.

The part of the installation guide that said you need to select all expansions up to and including lost dungeons to experience all SoD content?

Yeah. It wasn't lying.
 
Now what?

First of all, thank you for your rapid response.

I went back and reran the everquest startup to see what expansions I have. The ones that were
(and still are) checked:
... Ruins of Kunark
... Scars of Velious
... Shadows of Luclin
... Planes of Power
... Legacy of Ykesha
... Lost Dungeons on Norrath
All others were/are left unchecked

I unchecked and rechecked Lost Dungeons of Norrath and [re]ran the "Complete File Check"
and after it ran I made the the selections were unchanged then [re]selected Save.
Then just to be sure everthing was done to that point, I then selected Play
and let it run up to the accept screen where I declined.
I then shut down and restarted the computer
Upon restarting the sod patcher, I selected Advanced, then repatch all, then start (otherwise the EQ accept screen reappears)
A few screens later, I selected the "Update Owned Expansions" button.
On the resulting "REGISTER AN EXPANSION" screen it lists my registered expansions as:
... Ruins of Kunark
... Scars of Velious
... Shadows of Luclin
... Planes of Power
... Legacy of Ykesha
... Gates of Discord
**Note that the last entry in this SOD list is NOT the same as the last entry in the EQ client's list**

I repeated the entire process 2 times, and the results remain the same. I could go back
and select ALL of the expansions, but I thought that might cause other problems.

Would you please advise me what to do next?

I added something like "other zones" and now it works for me

*** NOTE FOR GM:
I got a possibly troubling message, between the channeling crystal explanation text
and the "You received channelling crystal" line. It was in full caps, yellow text, something like
... EDIT CHANNELING something CLIENT something
or maybe
... ERROR something CLIENT something

(I typed it correctly in a post reply here, and died doing so, then after getting my character back up,
saw that I had not submitted the post, and when I did so, it required a new login, and the post reply
text was lost, so this is the best I could remember. I am sorry for the loss, it this is important, I think
I would recognize the error text it if I saw it again.)

That is a very old error, and can be ignored.

When you get the channeling crystal the dull crystal is supposed to be removed from your inventory. The client is unable to do this, probably because the item ID is mismatched. Just destroy the dull crystal after you get your staff and forget abotu it.
 
I am having this same problem, I ran all over looking for the quest object. I can't find the patch options in the SoD patcher for "advanced options" "optional updates" or "other zones" anywhere. Please Help! Also every npc in Black Burrow is a human character, defiantly something wrong.
 
You necro'd a five year old thread and you expect it to be up-to-date information?

It sounds like your installation is incomplete or corrupt. Try reinstalling and then repatching, RigidRod. You can find instructions here. Are you using Titanium edition?
 
I love your choice of words, didn't realize I necro'd a 6! year old thread, I need to pay more attention lol. I am using Underfoot but attempting to get Titanium currently.
