Pottery skill-ups

I recently decided to take up pottery, and was concerned about the skill-up level. Specifically, I did exaclty 100 combines (2 clay and 1 urn mold = urn, triv 28) at a skill level of 20 and only had 4 skill-ups, to a current pottery skill of 24. Thats a rate of 1 skill-up per 25 combines. This seems a bit low, as with my other tradeskills (tailoring, brewing and blacksmithing) I generally receive 1 skill-up for every 5 to 8 combines. Is this intentional or an oversight?

Pottery is raised by cheap merchant bought stuff.

Guess twice if a slower rate of advance from extermely easy recipes is intentional.

Would trying harder recipes, that are still in your range, give a higher chance to skill up? For instance, skill is 24 and you are working on items that triv 28, what if you switched to an item that had a triv of 35 or so? Would that have higher failures but more skill ups?

Ok, thanks for the reply. I wondered if the fact that all items are merchat bought was part of it. Just wanted to make sure (didn't want to wear out my mouse-clicking finger as fast, if I didn't have to) :)

When you get higher skill the number of combines needed to skillup will go up as well. For instance... at 200+ brewing it takes like ~17 combines for one skillup!

Yea, I figured as much, which is why I was surprised about the higher number of combines required for a skill-up in pottery, with a skill of only 20. I have noticed my skill-ups in my other tradeskills gradually taking more combines to reach, as I increase in skill level.

all in all, pottery is painfully easy to get to the current max given the lack of recipes. It's a sort of band-aid tradeskill at the moment, not really very fleshed out.
