Possible Port Address Translation technicalities (/y)

Hi there,

I started playing on SoD several days before I returned to my college campus. Upon returning, I was dismayed to find that I cannot access SoD from here (After inputting my user name and password one of two things will happen: 1) It tells me it's "Submitting request to queue" and eventually times out, or 2) It procedes as normal to the server select screen but the server list is empty).

I've verified with the network administrator that all of the ports requird to play on SoD are open, so this isn't the source of the problem.

I'm aware that the network uses Port Address Translation (I am, however, rather vague in my understanding of this concept) and I understand that some programs have problems with Network Address Translation / Port Address Translation.

In a possibly related case, as of recently, when I try to play on other EQEmu servers (as opposed to SoD) I can access the server list but after that point one of three things will happen: 1) The game crashes, 2) I can get to the character select screen but am then disconnected while at that screen, 3) I am able to log onto a character but I am quickly disconnected. Previously, I could play on these EQEmu servers without any trouble.

My question: Is it possible that the PAT is interfering with me being able to log onto SoD (and causing said technicallities on other EQEmu servers)? If so, are there any ways to avoid these problems? :-\

It's possible, but before you make any assumptions you should check your personal firewalls, as well as your eqhost.txt. To me it sounds a lot like you're trying to connect to one of EQEmu's login servers.

Everything works properly when I'm off of the campus network. :?

But recently I've noticed that everything (not just Emu / SoD ) is having problems. The network admin is doing something funky. I'm trying to contact him about it.
