Now we all know that whatever the mods want to do, they will do... AND THAT'S GOOD! No one wants a server where they try to cater to every players needs. Finding a delicate balance is the most important thing about any game. Right now the game is FAIR! FAIR = FUN. So great, awesome, good job devs, keep on truckin'.

But some :censored: has come to light. One of my favorite "features" of WR (the fact that you respawn with all equipment after death) has been revealed to be a bug.

I thought that this was the best thing about WR. It's similar to the system they use in WoW, where if you want to get your xp back you gotta go find that corpse, but if not... well its pretty easy to just pick up your sword and start swinging.

That is one of the cooler things about WR compared to EQlive, that at the end of a long night when you wipe far from your bind spot, if you are willing to take the xp loss you dont have to spend time running back to your corpse. I very much hope it isnt changed :(
 
Wait, am I missreading this or do you get exp back for getting to your corpse?

Wouldn't that negate the usefulness of rezzes?

It's early, I haven't had my tea yet... so I'm probably missreading you all.
 
That's what I figured, it'd be too good to be true if you could just run to your corpse and get the exp back (though, that's not a bad idea... ;) ).
 
I think I remember hearing an OOC conversation about this a while back..

I think the point was to make a players death something highly undesirable. Right now, it is simply a small annoyance. The penalty is very weak. I have used death as a trip to the bind spot at least 50 times now.

But let's be realistic... The change isn't happening anytime soon. When a zone crashes.. corpses poof. How often do zones crash? A lot. Not to mention the bug where if you get ressed while LD, or not online your corpses can't be ressed at all.

I think.. Keep it the way it is, but remove the EXP Debt, and cause people to lose actual exp. That prevents people from taking 4 or 5 Ranger gates just because they are already max debt. If it is possible to lose levels, i think people will definately avoid dying.
 
Why not keep the debt - but make it so there is no max debt - if you die 5 times - you have 5 times the xp debt.
 
Man, one of the things I LOVE of WR is the fact that you dont lose your stuff and you have to do a corpse run to get it! That's one of the reasons I play here (but not the only one). If I have to get my corpse each time I die... man, I mean, the debt is a small annoyance, you appear where you binded, and it isnt a small amount really, you have to kill around 5 mobs, that's precious exp at higher lvls :eek:
Why dont we keep everything like this? Is anyone annoyed by the current system? :brow:
 
i like it the way it is

im a adventure type, i dont mind dieing fairly often, this was true for me in live also

last night before the big issues, i died, when i got back on today no corpse at all. if thats going to be the case, corpses keeping loot is NOT a good idea, i dont want to be naked at 50
 
There should be a max debt you can get, but maybe higher then what it is currently. If you leave it open-ended, one bad night could put you into a weeks worth of debt, that's not fun.

i voted to keep it the same. while its very true that CR's are a sinch with #corpse, its also nice to not have to run 4 or 5 zones away just to get your gear back. i have never had a rez. but i bet i've paid enough xp debt in the last few levels to gain another level or two. for a monk, i die alot :( . i'm not going to quit the game over it tho.. whatever the dev team decides to do, i'll roll with the punches.

This was in response to something that Melwin said in another post btw.

I only brought it up because it is indeed one of the MAIN reasons that I play here as opposed to not playing any game at all.

I know that if I start playing then I will not end up worse off then I was when I logged on. That is a big turn on for me.

It takes 10 seconds or less to die. It should not take a week to recover ;).

I LOVE THE CURRENT SYSTEM. Keep it ;) Please.

It's something I think we forgot about entirely.

If Wiz has made a new decision on it since last time, I haven't heard about it, so I assume it's still seen as a bug that we don't care to fix.

If, in the future, changes are made please keep a way for casual players to bail quickly with equipment. Any changes to the xp debt system would not be an issue to me personally.
