Pet-Class dominated Guild?

Hey all, first time poster here.

I played for several years on the roleplaying server on Live as part of the All-Bard Guild known as Molto Espressivo. I had an absolute blast with it, and I have many fond memories of doing some crazy stunts with a 6-bard group.

One thing I always loved doing was playing in pet-class dominated groups. I'd pull, a pack of elementals, skeletons, and animals would pounce on the critter, and the group would have the pull dead before I could grab the next one. I only put together a few of those groups, but I was always floored by how capable and fun they were. I always wanted to experiment more with the concept, but never really got the chance.

I understand that raid mechanics are built around class diversity, and I'm sure that's good for class balance. Would a guild dominated by pet classes be at all workable, or are the SoD mechanics too inflexible for this kind of experimental approach to work?

There is a soft cap of 3 per class in a raid iirc
I can't recall if the diminishing returns idea was ever implemented

It's a hard cap, the fourth of a class cannot have an engage slot on a mob.

I don't think it would be super effective on raid mobs, but a 6man group of 2 mag 2 nec and 2 bl might be interesting to mess around with xpwise, and would definitely be good for leveling up to about 40

If we took a loose interpretation of what constitutes a pet class, we'd have:

3 Core Pet classes: Mages, Beastlords, and Necros

3 Quasi-Pet Classes: Enchanters, Shadowknights, and Shaman

3 It's-a-stretch classes: Druids, Clerics (Do they have hammer pets in SoD?) and Wizards (do they have those purely-decorative pets in SoD?)

Of course, that would be less of a pet class guild and more of a "no melees, bards, or rangers" guild.

Druid pets are better than SK pets, and the druids abilities for keeping the pet alive are much more useful than a shadowknight's.

Wizard familiars don't behave like regular pets, but they're far from useless or "decorative."

Honestly though, you'd be better served playing well with classes in their roles, the content is engaging enough without trying gimmick raid builds.
