It doesnt bring the pet immediately back to you, if the mob attacks or damages the pet while its coming back the pet will turn and attack it again.

I think /pet backoff was changed last night to function LIKE rank 1 Recall minion if you have both Recall Minion ranks just so you have the option of using it in both incarnations since many people preferred the AA as it functioned in the rank 1 form over the rank 2 form.

Really? That is amazing! Getting rank 2 was a necessary evil and like the second worst AA I ever bought...
Tested: YES, clicking Back summons the pet but does not clear aggro just like Recall Minion rank 1. Phenomenal ninja change staff!!!
Why LIKE rank 1 recall minion? From what I can tell it's exactly the same. Its nice in that it doesn't drop agro, but bad if you need to reposition mobs. This is especially true if you're raining and need to reposition your pet/the mobs. You need to basically use yourself as a beacon and position the mob around u... then back off.
Also, what's the point of the rank1 ability beyond getting to rank 2.

Well the problem is that you can never make everyone happy and I think in this situation you're in the minority. You'll just need to adapt to the way it works now and if proposed rain changes go through to make it so mages can't be hit by their own rains you can just get up closer and do it which would solve your problem.

I completely agree with the positioning point much easier to try and position by 'inching' the mob back then repositioning it completely.
I thought the proposed changes were to replace a druid AA with this. Also I wasn't complaining, like I said mages can just adapt, but this change just makes rank 1 of an AA completely useless. Maybe change the current rank 2 to rank 1 and add a small heal/buff/regen to rank 2 when activated?
Also IF rains got changed that would be a big help, but there's no guarantee of that.

My understanding is without rank 1 of the AA your /pet back functions like it used to, you only get the summoning aspect of it WITH the purchase of the AA.
Oh, these changes went in without any explanation and I already had the aa's, so it seems that mages DO have an option if they want the old style /pet back, just don't get the AA completely.

This thread became confusing... Rank1 was swell for solo tagging and what not, but rank2 is great for raids and all that other shit... why does it feel like this is floating text? STFU and enjoy a nina change that benefits all thinking pet classes- aights?

I should clarify, or better yet, just:
Yes. Exactly. Buying rank2 was necessary for some situations, but also a real nut cruncher for losing the utility of rank1 in other situations. Great change!
