Pathing = Fear support? Intimidation question

Is fear disabled on all indoor zones? I realize that without pathing, fear doesn't work right, but I don't know if fear is mostly disabled indoors or not.

My concern is that if fear is enabled in zones, monks and rogues won't get to use intimidation any more (as it would be stupid to use it in a fear enabled zone indoors).

Is it possible to change the fear effect for intimidation? Since it's a random effect, it can't be used in a planned manner without risking the mob bolting from you.

I don't want to see fear support limited as I'm sure a lot of necros and shadowknights would like it implemented. I would however like for monks and rogues to be able to use Intimidation against enemies without it just being some random roll of the dice that could get everyone killed.

So your saying, that you want one intimidating look to lower dex, and another to make him run? Sorry, but I think its kinda stupid. You cannot intimidate some one and know exactly what they are going to do. Rogues and monks may not be able to use it all the time, but thats the way it is. You cannot do lots of things indoors (SoW), and it is supposed to be that way. BTW wrong section. Maybe it should have been in suggestions forum.

It's a debuff....and sometimes it fails and the mob lashes out in AAAAAANGERRRRRR. Yeah, the running part is stupid though. Get rid of the fear component is what I'm saying. I never said I wanted to be able to choose between different types. But whatever...if fear support is put into all zones and a mob runs, I'm usually a rogue or a monk, so someone else is eating it first...

And no it shouldn't be in suggestions because I don't really care if it's done or not...it was a question...to which nobody worthwhile responded.

not to add a stupid comment but, instead of having the monster run away in fear, change the fear to a debuff where the monster takes 50% more damage and deals 50% less damage? although a monster fears you doesnt mean it's going to attempt to kill you. that's life having the main char in a horror movie running away the whole movie.

Maybe after you fear it, it could run back to it's friends and tell everyone how scary you are, and they'll all just commit suicide in fear, and you can go pick up the loots? Good idea? huh?

In my opinion, Luciferblack raises a good point. Right now, Intimidation is actually a usefull and non-deadly skill in non-fear zones.

In fear-enabled zones, people with Intimidate plain just don't use it because of the chance of fearing. And to the person saying that some people can't SoW indoors, making all zones become fear enabled would almost be the equivalent of making all zones indoor zones. It'd be the end of the intimidate skill except in the very unlikely circumstance that you're in a wide open zone with little to few kos and grouping mobs, preferably with a snare-proccing weapon or caltrops. Which still would give monks the shaft.

So, to recap, I'm with Luciferblack on this. Give it another downside, I don't care, but the fear part is potentially a skill-killer.

My point is that you cannot scare someone, so that they just lash out in anger and the other ones, if all depends on the personality of the person, some are cowards and will run. Thus, having a chance intimidation will make the mob run away in fear, as well as other, less potent ones, makes the skill realistic.

**edit**
Think of it this way, if you jump from behind a corner and yell Boo! Some people will just be like "you'r stupid" and others may scream, being caught off garuds, and some may even run away. Now since I thought SoD was mad to be more realistic, removing the fear from intimidation would be kinda stupid, but lessening the chance of it happening I think would be a lot better.

[sarcasm]Druids shouldn't be able to turn into dogs anymore, that would make druids more realistic.[/sarcasm]

On a more serious note, since when has realism been the catch-all for stuff that's just plain not fun? We're just saying that if it would be like this, the skill will hardly be used except in very rare circumstances. That alone should be worth looking at, if just to make intimidate "fear only" so that at least you can somewhat reliably fear something, in case you'd really want to (which would be better than the thing it is now + random chance to fear).

Then, when you get into a pickle, you could throw off an intimidate and bravely run the other way :)

**reply to edit**
I agree that removing it might be too harsh. But maybe we're looking in the wrong way for a "fix". How about the mob runs until you're out of sight (which in a dungeon would make for less trains and in open spaces still would make you huff and puff from running)?

I dont think its unrealistic for a SHAPESHIFTER to shift its shape =) That would be a nice idea, but its most likely not possible. And besides, if it was a full fear and nothing else, where would you skill it up if you are only going to use it in those rare occasions?

Ok enough sarcasm. Return to the OP's topic.

This is not the place for you antics.

Don't derail a thread after a GM told everyone to get back on topic, and don't carry retarded grudges, especially not across the forums.

Now everyone really gets back on topic, right from this very post on, or I'll start bringing the hammer down. No replies to this post, no nothing. Zip, zilch, zero, no response that isn't on topic. I apologize for the recent hostility from my end, but I'm trying to beat in the point that we're not going to take all this crap anymore.

Sooo Fear?

Sticky is still up with all the zone that have fear enabled like Nbadlands Ebadlands etc... But they dont work anymore. If this going to stay or we getting fear back? I know after the new pathing was done that fear was gone. I'm just wondering....I miss it .....
