Patching an OLD version

Hey all. I picked up the game when it first came out, 7 or 8 years ago. Today I discovered SoD and teared up a little in nostalgia. I'm trying to follow the "fresh install" directions, and I've installed the game with my original disc. I am unable to connect and patch with this version. It seems to me that the original patch program is SO old that it isn't even recognized by the contemporary setup. The following is copied from my patch log :

EverQuest Patch version 1.1.4

If this is your first time playing EverQuest, refer to "Troubleshooting Your Connection" in "EverQuest_Manual.txt"in your EverQuest folder.

I'm not willing to rule out my router as the problem, since it usually ends up being the thron in my butt for all things internet'd. Can anyone help me? Thanks :)

Hey there, i had the same issue. What i did was i downloaded the new EQ Patcher and it worked just fine. Just replace the EQ.exe in the folder with the one you download and you should be good to go. You can find it in the Everquest Support area. I would provide a direct link, but im currently behind my School's firewall.

Hope that helps.
