Patcher Troubles

I am having a problem with the patcher.

Everytime I run the patcher, it gets stuck at the "Getting patch list." message....I have tried every scenario in the FaQ.

- I deleted "files.txt" and clicked repatch all.
- I disabled my only firewall and tried to patch, still no go. The firewall I have is Windows Firewall, and it has been active for the past 3 years I've been running the patcher.
- I noticed that the .net needed for the patcher is still the 1.1 version. I had installed the 2.0 version recently for another program that I no longer use, so I uninstalled it and tried to patch. Still.....no luck.

What is the deal?

The patcher uses Internet Explorer's proxy settings. Try disabling any proxies or internet speed enhancers you have configured.

I haven't used IE in years. I don't know why this problem would occur now and not sooner.
