Patcher isn't working

Hey whenever I try to run the patcher is says "sodpatcher.exe is not a valid win32 file" so I downloaded the files directly, put them in my eq folder, but now I'm wondering how I start the game?

Any help for a new player plz?

The patcher didn't download correctly. Try re-downloading it.

You really want the patcher. It'll save you much grief later on.

I've redownloaded the patcher like 4 times, and I've tried it in compatibility mode for 2000/98/95 etc and nothings working.

I'm running fully updated XP fyi...
