Patcher Error? User Error?

Every time I click on the sodpatcher.exe I get the error:

CLR error: 80004005
This program will now terminate

I've read the stickies, and as much of the technical forums as I could stomach, could anyone out there shed some light on this?
if more info is needed let me know.

Things Tried:
1. new patcher files both bin and .exe
2. .net framework, twice
3. firewalls off as well as windows exceptions
4. no ports blocked
5.????

Two things could cause the problem:

1. You are trying to run SoD on a Windows XP machine and running the patcher under a compatibility mode, if you right click on your shortcut and select properties and check the compatibility mode, turn it OFF.

2. You are running a machine with different versions of the .NET framework, particularly the Visual Studio 2005 .NET Beta. If so you need to uninstall ALL of the .NET Framework versions, reboot, then re-install the correct .NET frame work.

Problem has been solved.

The issue was .NET but not what I first figured. A note to others who may have the similar problem. Patch .NET to the newest version, it does not automatically come patched and you need to do it manually (at least I did). I dowloaded and installed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 and it all works fine now.

So to recap. if your patcher has an error and wont run right off the bat, it's most likely a .net error. install the current version and make sure it's updated with the service pack.
