Panther / Cougar skin Tunics

both of these items no longer combine. I noticed a MOTD that tailor books have changed, and see there is a Black Ointment mentioned in lieu of Red on the first page, but then it never again mentions black ointment, but instead lists the Red ointment (blackbane + blackblood + vial). The Tunic combine is / was (red ointment + 2 skins + tunic pattern) but doesn't combine anymore.

Any help on this?

Buy a tailoring book. Read it.

Ok reading the "Hides and Skills Basic Tailoring" book I read:

"Leather Armor: This most simple of tailored armor types can be crafted from the skins of bears and larger cats. Apply a hide, or two in the cases you need to make the larger tunic, in your sewing kit along with a pattern."

In reading "Ointments and Their Use" I read:

"The red ointment, similarity, can be applied to the hides of cougars and panthers, for the creation of lightweight armor commonly preferred by martial artists and other fighters who do not wish to be burdened."

I tired and still get failures (see image), can anyone help???

That is not what the in-game book says. That is what the wiki says. So go buy the book, and read it.

Actually, that IS what the book says.
I previously used the wiki myself for all my tailoring recipe needs. But after the patch that changed the recipes, I purchased both "Hides and Silks: Basic Tailoring" and "Ointments and Their Use" from the tailoring vendor in Athica B (this was yesterday). The books do not give the new recipes. However, through trial and error, I learned that Panther and Cougar skin tunics are made from 3 hides, 2 ointments and 1 pattern. However, after the same attempts at trial and error, I was never successful at finding the new recipe for Hopperhide tunics, also noticing that Hopperhide is not mentioned anywhere in either book. (don't know if it was before cause I didn't own the books until yesterday). Has Hopperhide armor been removed?

If you get a DNC on tunic try 3 hides or 3 swatchs (6 silks) and 2 ointments, if you get a DNC on legs/back/arms ty 1-2 hides/swatchs and 1-2ointments. Not sure exactly what is required for Shadow Silk/Imp Hide chest/legs/back/arms anymore since no one really buys it from tailors anymore.

Hopperhide armor was never in the first 2 books, and the Hopperhide Shirt combine is bugged atm it will be fixed next patch.

Also, check your books again in the morning. They have been updated by magical gnomes right under your noses during the night.

(I hope)

Them tricky magical gnomes have done it, today my books (unlike the aforementioned quote) now reads:

Hided and Silks: Basic Tailoring:

"....Apply a hide (tow if you need to make a cloak, sleeves or leggings, three for a tunic) in your sewing kit along w/ a pattern."

Ointments and Their Use:

"... when creating pants or a tunic (or robe) you will need to use two of the appropriate ointments."

Thank you for the fix,

Victory! :toot:

Victory? Not a victory for me, much closer to a loss. As a non 250 tailor looking to skill up, its just made my getting to 250 much harder, and keeps the 250's w/ less competition, if ya ask me; but in the big picture, its nice that the books match the results. Sure sucks when they don't. So for that it is a Victory.
