Paladins

The recent aggro changes were downright awesome. Thanks a bunch. It really makes us much more useful as tanks, since we can, you know, tank =)

Khalid (Maimai?) and I both noticed earlier today, though, that it seemed to either be variable or to have backslid a bit. We both had times when we'd pull with an AOE blind and upon returning to the camp some or all of the mobs would just rush the nearest person, as though they were pulled with no aggro. For me that was happening in the afternoon; tonight, I had no problem holding aggro in my group, in the same zone (RSM) using the same tactics, on the same mobs, even with some of the same group. Go figure.

Anyway, overall I'd say the aggro changes are awesome. They leave us still a step below SKs, and we still have to pay some attention to hold aggro over a high end rogue or monk, but we *can* hold aggro, barring extremely resistant mobs, in almost any situation through chain casting. I'd say the balance is excellent, since an incautious paladin is still going to get his group killed.

Now all that's needed is to give paladins Lifeburn and a Death Touch AA.

I've noticed this on lots of pulls, sometimes one or more mobs will just pick someone else in the group to jump on regardless of aggro. I like it, it makes every combat have an element of danger and forces people to pay attention. The misbehaving mobs can be rounded up quick by alert tanks.

Mobs on casters can be hard to round up if the casters run around. It's one thing I hate about it, but that's a player issue really. If we can't get hits in on the mob, we can't take aggro. The healer in the group should be paying enough attention to quick heal the person getting hit on to keep them alive. Meh, sorry to clog up the post, not playing a Paladin myself, but the Paladins I know seem to be happy with the changes :)

It did appear to me that sitting agro or proximity agro got a big boost, I noticed that I could pull, AE blind, stun etc. far off from camp but when the mobs actually got to camp with me they peeled off instantly. I PM'd hasritt and asked if he'd noticed this and he confirmed the same thing.

Was there a change or am I imagining it?

I'd wager it's the los change making the ae stuff not hit some mobs. It's much more finicky than the old system.

Nah, I alwyas watch how many targets either are hit by or resist my AOE. The numbers were definitely consistent with one another.

I agree. I've noticed recently that when I pull (as a pally) the mob goes straight for people sitting down and ignores me until I taunt it off.

Damage it when you pull and it won't do that.
Pulling with a stun or a blind will normally do the same.

Basically you need to get some numbers on the hate list, otherwise it'll go for the nearest person. Any sort of damage, stun, or debuff is sufficient to do that.
