Paladin tanking help

Hello, I started a paladin on SoD with hopes of tanking, but it seems as if stuns are not nearly as good as on live. I have issues keeping aggro off other melee dps while spamming 3 stuns in succession. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You should rely on blinds mostly for aggro tbh. I just always found them to be superior to stuns but I also never played a midlevel paladin. At 55 you get a new single target blind that will be your bread and butter until you get AA Stun.

Just alternate Stuns and Blinds for reliable aggro.

I hate trolls.

You should alternate blind and stun. Also doing alot of dps helps keep aggro, get the best weapon you can and some haste and if other people are stealing your aggro then they need to manage it better. Paladins tank pretty well but we do need to work to keep our aggro. After level 55 it gets a little easier and at 65 with divine stun you should have few problems with aggro.

The progression is pretty standard as you level up on a paladin. Lower lvls it was a lot of work to keep agro, then as you get higher lvl your spells have lower resist rates and generate more agro (a dual upgrade in terms of keeping agro). Then as you progressively get more and more aa's, you will not have to spam spell cast.. as much :).

The best thing that you can do is get to 55 for Blinding Light. I never really used my low level blind leveling up so I can't comment on how effective it is at holding aggro, but Blinding Light more than gets the job done. Generally I don't even have to stun (don't have AA stun yet) to effectively hold aggro.

At 62 you can get your AoE blind which is EXTREMELY effective and at 63 your AoE stun which I use sparingly because I am generally grouped with an enchanter (breaks mez), but it is very solid aggro as well.

Pre-55 I just root tanked everything. I struggled to hold aggro off of my groups monk and rogue when grinding as well, but since 55 it is has been easy going. Don't sweat your lack of tanking ability, it'll come soon enough.

how did you get level 54 with only 874 kills? perhaps an adventure band?

It's called grouping with friends. Try it if you have any. It's much more fun than trolling forums.

Thanks for the help from all of you who were constructive. I am 60 now and the new blind kicks ass. My ranger friend still can pull aggro easily, but it doesn't happen anywhere near as much as it used to. I also switched to 2HS over 1HS/shield and have noticed the increased damage helps a bit. Not sure that I will stay this way at 65, but for now it works.

Or let him die and use 0% rez's on him until he starts using jolt. I find this method is a good teacher for those that can't control their aggro.

I, for one am thankful you choose to take the Devastating Blows instead of Kazimir, it makes the raid go much smoother.
