Old Zone Penalty -25% is really -40%?

I have no idea how the XP math is figured out, but been soloing in a zone with
+5% zone bonus and the other day hit -25% old area.
Which I understand and all that
the penalty was at -10% and the xp per kill range was 3628 to 2494
after it hit -25% went to 2418 to 1662.

is xp calculated in some odd way or am i just missing something
as i am seeing what i think is a total penalty of 40ish% from base

this is my 1st and only zone in the bad. so just wondering how it works

Not sure if it is related, but I started to get quite a bit less xp for kiting orcs in EW while non of my modifiers changed. Your math is correct, and I am not sure what other modifiers are you may be receiving, or if the modifiers are hidden.

Your base xp is ~4k, and you are losing about 1600 (on some mobs) so this does seem a bit higher then it should be.

The blue conning mobs can be different levels also.

While killing cyclops elders, for example, some give 4500~ exp, while others give 6000~

This is correct, but I am getting about 1k less on all of the mobs I fought.

Also, I don't think you get an xp penalty with more AA, I think each AA takes more xp (any clarification?). I had 160's and now I am in the 170s and noticed the change, so I don't think I reached any cutoffs.

There is a hidden modifier at lower AA totals. You will see less exp per mob killed as you progress in your AAs.

Either my sarcasm detector is down today, you are really good, or you are being honest. Either way, I want more xp plx.

It's not even a hidden modifier. It was pretty plainly stated by Wiz a while ago that you get a bonus to XP that shrinks at a few points (50 AAs, a couple others) and eventually disapppears. I'll see if I can find the link.

I just assumed (obviously stupidly) that each AA was just worth more when you progressed. Also, I saw the change around maybe 175 AA, which might be a changing point, but seems like an odd one. It could also be caused from me just being crazy, though, and the xp is the same.

Okay, my searching has revealed that:

* You get a 10% aaxp bonus at 63, 20% and 64, and 30% at 65
* The first 50 AAs have an additional increased speed. After 100 AAs it starts to slow down until you hit AA 200 where the penalty is at its highest.

Keep in mind that things change so this might be outdated.

hmm, don't know
61 iksar SK with 100aa (has the -25%)
62 iksar Shm with 84aa

went to a new zone, grouped they were getting the same amount of xp on most DB kills, but it wasn't the same everytime

from the wiki
you gain a 10% AAEXP bonus at level 63, 20% at level 64, and 30% at level 65

if i kill a mob and get 1000 normal xp, then kill the same mob again with aaxp i would see 1200 at 64?

i always thought it the bonus was a hidden number applied after the number you get to see
