well... I have to admit... I swore off EQ a long time ago... prolly 2 years now... the game was ytoo easy (soloing a black supposedly Uber level 60 mob was quite a rude awakening... for anybody wondering... Lodi)... this game looks to be interesting... :) I played EQ when it was like, brand new... before Kunark, lol... but gave up after a while... thinkin I will be a monk (am not in game just yet, lol) and will be called Dryzun (a name I've carried for quite a while)... I hope to see y'all in game... any helpful hints about what makes monks different in this version? :) thanks so much

MANY things make this a different game completely. The content alone, not to mention the cool things they've done with some of the mechanics, are worth a few months of game play (for me, at least, since I like to level slowly and wander around a lot). Places are used much more intelligently... buildings, zones, etc. Apparently, there have been attempts at a changelog, but the number of changes from Live are overwhelming.

Edit: I just thought of one fundamental change - night time means a lot here. Merchants close, doors get locked, mobs change in a few zones....

And how about this - Rogues can actually be Rogue-like in this game. I haven't quite tried it yet, but I think you can get experience for picking locks and stealing stuff from locked buildings. Of course, you also gain "heat" from the local authorities...

Welcome. Enjoy.

welcome to SoD  There are lots of changes, and I haven't played a monk through the begining levels, but they're A LOT of fun at the higher levels, I've borrowed one to DC with my druid and it's a blast. Jump right in there and have fun exploring.
