I havnt played eq for years now, (since pop) i have been playing WoW and while i like the game it just is not what i want it to be, im coming to this game in hopes that i can get some of that "feeling" that the original ********* gave me. My name is shalamar so hit me up in game.

Couple of questions

how close is this game to ********* 1?
Are the combat mechanics the same?

I know the zone names and lore have changed but are the cities and stuff gonna look the same?

i have a million other questions but ill find those out on my own, hopefully this game is as fun as it sounds and hopefully it captures the magic that i have missed for so long.

how good is dire charm in this game, i absolutly loved that spell when i played before, im hoping it has a place in the endgame, im sure it doesnt though as you can online charm lvl 50 mobs
 
well, to be honest I can only see it being helpful if you just farming things in the lower lvls, like you said has to be 50 and under.
 
Whats the end game scene like on this server? is there more high levels than low levels or is it a mix? and is there anyway i can download the game and xpacs without buying them,
(ive long since lost my disks) or do i have to buy em?

I'm going to say "no" on the combat mechanics, though the basic concept of "melees should probably turn on auto-attack if they want to do damage" remains frequently true.

The zone geometry is the same... barring some zonelines located in different areas that effectively restrict you to a portion of a zone.
 
hows it going?! im new myself (former RZ).... and probably share alot of the same questions :)

im looking to set up a steady casual group to lvl up together... so keep in touch...

im DLing EQ now through ign..

Honestly, there is probably no way to ever bring back that feeling. It was a magical time for all of us. But since then you know so much more about the basic mechanics of this kind of game, that the mystery will never be the same.

Basic mechanics are the same. BUT, there are significant differences too. Some things seem to be minor, but make a huge difference. For ex. medding in combat is nerfed real bad. But medding out of combat is much, much faster. This means that for many (namely my druid), you might as well melee, because sitting down does not really speed up the pulls.

The cities and stuff will pretty much look the same. Even if the city has a different name, you will probably see the old name on the city gates and stuff.

I think it will definitely be worth a try. While this may not bring back all the old magic, for many of us, it did bring back its own magic of a different kind.

what up man, im down to level with you, gonna make a enchanter, been thinking of boxing a pally with him, not sure i wanna do that though, im trying to get the game downloaded now but having a problem finding it, called all the best buys, wal marts and gamecos around here but nobody carries eq titanium anymore,

question, if i have the original ********* will i be able to play? like will the patcher take care of the rest or do you have to have the titanium edition?

Titanium will install everything you need.
