Old EQ player New Winter's Roar Player with Questions

Boy does this game bring a smile. Thanks to the people behind it for making it available to us! :)

1) I played a Magician in EQ and early on when the pets were considered powerful I had a great time. My enjoyment of the game diminished in proportion to the power of the pets with later expansions. I am hoping that someone may have experience in both games and be able to tell me if playing a Magician in Winter's Roar will recapture those "glory days" or if I'm better off playing something like Wizard or Enchanter.

2) Me and my wife  have just reached level 6 together and are having a difficult time finding things in our challenge rating for us to advance on. Any suggestions on where we can go hunt?

3) I had also heard that many of the quests were solo-able is that true, and if so does that include the epic quests that I heard were in-game?

Thank you!

ok, i will help you as best as i can, i am new my self...

1) Magicians are needed by what i have seen so far, for summoning bandages and arrows, since alot of people solo, need those band-aids

2) try in centurian hills outside newport. since everyone is either dubiouse or better to everyone else, you should be able to get there and not worry about kos (just dont kill the guards or farmers =p) Also can ask in the guild you start in, people will usually suggest where to go if you ask hehe, and if they dont answer, either their too busy or dont know them selfs hehe

3) as far as i hear, epic still need some help with, cause of some of the locations (such as clerics need to go drown them selfs at the beggining) however, this server is so nice and awsome, people will help you with the quest if you need it np.

hope this helps,

I personally went to the Newport Sewers (think Qeynos Aqueducts) and butchered ratmen till level 10 or so, then went to the Warrens with great success.

Mage is a great class if you enjoy it. I have several mage friends. One thing that makes a difference is that travel is not easy like sony made it later on in EQlive, and that's ok. Make friends with a wizard/druid
