Odd patcher problem

I start SoD up this morning(I know...I know, server's down for a patch). Trouble is I wasn't even able to get past the patch server as I got the following error from sodpatcher.exe

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is here? I've tried reinstalling the patcher several times(both from a backup I'd made and from a redownload from the main page) and the error persists.
 
Some say that deleting files.txt and repatching all, or re-downloading the SoD patcher and placing it in your game directory would fix this issue.

From what I understand, the most commpon cause of this error is .net framework related. If you have 2.0 installed, uninstall it and install the older version (go to start > control panel > add remove hardware to check your version and/or uninstal if needed). For some reason the newer one is reported to cause problems for some players.

I'm not a very "techy"... can you have both installed at once? My guess would be no. The newer would overwrite the older....
 
You can have 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 (going to be 3.4 with the release of VS2007 IIRC) installed at once.
