Occlusion of Sound - should be made single-cast/not pulsing

Occlusion of Sound is the lvl 55 bard resist debuff song, and currently it works like all "normal" detrimental songs, meaning that it takes up one of the precious two detrimental songslots.

Although it has a pretty long duration of ten ticks, this fact that it takes up one of the slots makes it quite useless to us bards I find. If you cast it, your relic chant (or ur normal chant) + jolt or a second chant, then occlusion wears off again.

On the other hand there is the Amulet of Timeless Echoes, a int-caster necklace which has occlusion of sound as a clicky. It can just be clicked once and due to the long song duration, the caster can just forget about it and not worry about recasting (in most cases) or pulsing/twisting it.

I suggest/request that the song should be made to a non-pulsating one like the bard nukes or the ae mezz etc. This would make this song sooooooo much more useful. Its just not worth for a bard to sacrifice one of the two songslots for it and if casters get a not-have-to-worry-about clicky version it would be just "fair" to make it useful in the same way to us bards.

I hope you support this request, but please discuss if you see a reason against it.

I don't really care about the request here but I think it's a valid demand.

I like to derail threads though, and got a few questions about this song :
-Is the percussion mod adding something to the song ? [edit : verified, it seems to do 16 without mod, 22 with 1.7, 37 with 2.2, checked clientside]
-if it does something, when you use the Amulet of Timeless Echoes, can it take into consideration the percussion mod on your gear IF you're not a bard ?
-I suppose it's gotta be hard to fix, but it seems the relic bard dot overwrites it, the necro scent line (not verified, just checked on parser stacking window), and the stupid druid debuff line (not verified, just checked on parser stacking window).
It would be a long shot I suppose, but would it be considered to stack ?

Having it stack with Relic dot would equal out to a pretty substantial MR debuff in the end. One of the benefits of occlusion is the fact that it's tagged as unresistable, I've always seen it more as a song you throw on to allow other casters to land their long duration resist debuffs easier.

As for changing it to a non-pulse song, I could agree with that assuming a recast timer wasn't added. Otherwise I'd prefer it as is.

This spell is better used to throw up on a mob before it gets relic dotted. Once a mob is relic dotted, all other classes should be able to land their debuffs on it. This song is level 55, so I can kind of see how it is obsolete at 65 (as much as people say bard songs are always utility, due to stacking issues and limitations of 2 detrimental songs, that is absolutely not true). I think OOS is fine as is, and that is coming from someone who has not used it since the Planar zones.

As for casters using their necks....I would bet large sums of money I can land relic dot way before they can land OOS. If there is no bard on the raid, then the neck is great, but I am still not sure if it is usually worth the 10 second cast time.

I partially disagree.

I agree that OOS should be a non-pulse.

I disagree that it should not be a detrimental slot.

ohh, i used oos so rarely before i didnt even notice that relic chant overwrites it.

But anyway why do you think it should eat up a twist slot, that it doesnt stack is an even better argument for makin it non-pulse in my eyes. that way you can just use it like its meant to be, a pre-debuff before ur chant sticks. just like the ae mezz can be used as a pre-mezz before u get u do your single target mezzes.

ohh and i think that if a song doesnt pulse it also doesnt eat up a slot of the 2 detrimental rule (ae mezz isnt overwritten either if you run 2 pulse songs on top of it) - thats the way it works. Also I think at least a really short recast has to be added in order to make it nonpulse (0.1 is enough, it just cant pulse i mean..) . But that are technical details

It should take up a twist slot because "it doesn't stack with relic dot" is not a good reason to change precedent on all bard songs. This is just another point that it doesn't need to be slot-free. You forget that there are 10 levels and relics to acquire between getting OOS and rdot, and making OOS non-pulse lends it to more use between these levels. Removing it's detriment slot usage would make it utterly indispensable in this level gap.

I'm trying to follow your last paragraph, but I can already disprove it with Requiem of Time. Single cast, detrimental slot.

requim pulses like everything else without recast time, so does the low level nuke song that doesnt have a recast yet, but only costs mana. Denons Arrogant Bellow.

Only those songs with a (long or short doesnt matter) recast dont pulse afaik.
