Non-staff quests

As always, I just may be unaware of something being allowed/done already. I'm never noted for being right on top of information.

Is it possible to submit quest ideas/ writeups without being a staff member? For those who might be able to tell a story, but do not have the time to commit to a full time schedule of Gm/Dev work, this might help take some of the load off of the Staff.

It might be a way to expand some areas that are low priority in views of the server at large, but more important to those who enjoy certain areas over others. Perhaps allowing them a chance to help expand/ grow interest in an area that is currenly underutilized.

If it isn't something currently done, and a fair bit of interest is taken in this, it might result in a staff position that deals mainly with non-staff submissions. But overall the advances would outweight the drawbacks, since Admins would not have to worry about GM/Dev access by more folks, while still increasing the exploration of a changing world.

It may, also, help others when it comes to reporting bugs with current questlines, as they will be more comfortable with what coding could have been used. This could give them insight on specifics of what was missed.

I appreciate the spirit of this post, but for the most part, the difficult and time consuming aspects of quest implementation are not actually thinking up ideas for quests, but coding and implementing them. Everyone has ideas, and a lot of them are even halfway decent, but the time commitment is the most important aspect of Devvery.

This is not to say that we will flat out reject non-staff ideas, but you have to realize that most of the free time developers have to contribute to working on SoD is spent developing their own ideas/quests/content.

Players are still welcome to submit in-game books if they would like to chronicle a story/event in the Dalayan world, and If you have an idea for a storyline event/quest/whatever, the place to post it would be here: in S&R.

It doesnt read it as such: but I did not mean simply quest design itself, but coding also. It would require alot of patience out of whomever was teaching the coding of SoD. I make this assumption under the ideas of SoD and EqEmu do not follow the same systems.

The one difference here is that: While they have the coding knowledge to create them, they are unable to implement them in any fashion except submission for review.

But again, thanks. I had forgotten about the in-game book thing. It has been awhile since anyone spoke of these things to the public. :)

If you weren't staff, it would be kind of a PITA to debug and error check your quests which is half the work really and it would end up taking the time of some dev who would have to act go-between. There's good reason we've rarely accepted content submissions beyond ideas.
