No Audio (Steam + Win8 + Custom Res)

Lovely folks! I'm making my way back to EQ finally, and on the first launch I had the wonderful sound at character selection. I went back and forth across two accounts a few times, when suddenly I realized the audio had gone silent. Now, no matter what I do, I'm not finding any way to fix the audio.

So far:
  • The sound in options is 100% up for all types
  • My computer has other audio output
  • I've rebooted multiple times
  • I can only use EQW; disabling this causes me to be unable to get past the TOS splashscreen.
  • I'm running at a non-standard resolution, which is one thing that's been changed since it was working originally.
I did some searching on the forums and didn't see any common issue with this, but I'm hoping perhaps someone has encountered this before?
