Newport Citizen Faction Question

After searching, and reading many threads dating back to early 2005, regarding the question of Newport Faction, I am more confused than when I began researching this subject. Some people say that the bounty tokens can only be turned in to a certain point, and that everchill orcs are needed to go from warmly to ally.
Others have mentioned noticing a change in faction levels they had already acheived.

I think that the process has changed at least somewhat since last year, because I have been able to get to warmly so far using just the minor or smallest tokens. Is it possible now to go all the way to ally with the smallest bounty tokens? If so, does anyone know around how many this feat would require?

Someone told me in /ooc around a week ago that they were able to hit ally in 160 tokens. Another more recently said they did it in 210. I am currently at 254 turned in, and still "warmly." I am hoping that someone who knows the generic faction formula for Newport can explain it here at the forum in detail because I am very confused at this point, and not sure if I am wasting my time grinding a faction that is capped.

(Apologies in advance if this question is inapropriate to ask, I understand if it can not be answered here to avoid spoiling the quest mystery)

Thanks.

Have you tried turning in the bandit heads? Didnt take much for me. In my lower levels, I turned in gnoll ears, rat tails, hoods. Then went on to turn in Liodreth heads from Paw. After that it was Bandit heads. I felt it didnt take me very long because I was doing it while I was also Exping. Bandit heads are pretty easy. Especially in WBL at Neverik's camp. Hope this helps you.

I appreciate your reply. Actually the rat tails and hoods as well as the giant beatle legs are for guard faction I think.

The bandit heads are for citizen faction. So far I have turned in 127 bandit heads for a total of 254 tokens... and I am still at warmly Newport citizen faction. I am wondering if it is possible to achieve ally faction with bandit heads and gnoll ears alone, or if it is capped, and to go from warmly to ally it is necessary to use liodreth heads and everchill orc ears?

If it is possible to do it on small tokens alone... what is the required number? It must be 300+ ...

If you are getting a message saying you gained the faction then you are not yet capped at it. Keep at it and continue to persevere! Another great way to improve faction is to do the ring quest in NP.

if i rember right WIZ posted some ware but i could not locate it saying that you could not get to last setting for new port amult by just doing lesser newport bounty tokens you need to turn in some from the next level up and do many side quest to make it. i do know that the newport ring quest later rings add great amonts of faction to you in this. also the cat head forget there right name are attanable at @ 20th level or so by hunting in a group or carful soloing out side paw at the spires. hope this info help you out. on the same note continal turning in the lesser token untill they no longer give faction as you can make out this faction peace and it will take less of the bigger faction adjustment to get you there. yours hason the warrior.

When I got ally a few months ago I used only the weakest tokens (i.e. copper ones). Other people had done the same, and I know it took TONS. I am unaware if it was changed, but it might seem a bit rediculous if you had to get the Everchill tokens to reach ally; then nobody would become ally to Newport before level 60 most likely.

nope you dont need to get everchill one but i think you have to use at least the mid grade ones give out by killing the cat people( liodreth) forget what they are called. also when doing the lesser ones i now of 3 diffent sorces of them bandit heads/ gnoll ears and ratmen tails from sewers. hope this helps you all out. hason the warrior

hear a quote taken from a post made by WIZ i final found it hope it helps you all i belive it is still upto date but could be wrong it was posted on 5/17/05 under the topic amulet of newport for high levels

Crops and Bounty tokens will now only take you to amiable.

Major Bounty tokens, which you get from Captain Ludwig in Nbadlands for killing liodreth, will take you to warmly.

Greater Bounty Tokens, which you get from Contractor in Everfrost for killing Everchill Orcs, will take you to ally.

Also meaning you will need to do other quests in order to get amulet before you can kill in Everchill.

Correct. Basically, if you want the Amulet of Newport before level 60ish, you can't get it on tokens alone. I earned my Amulet in my late 30s, and the highest token I ever handed in was from the Liodreth in Paw. However, I had also completed my Newport Ring 3, and the ring quests give ALOT more faction, as compared to the tokens. So, if you want to do it strictly by tokens, you'll eventually need the tokens from Everchill to be able to reach ally faction, meaning you'll be in your 60s before you get your amulet. If you want to get ally faction before then, do the ring quests as soon as you are able.
