newbie (old player way back in the day)

You dont have to have the exact graphic on the patcher (the one in that post is just an example of what the patcher screen looks like). However with the new way $0ny is working you have to log in with an account before you can download any patches (from what I hear even old expired accounts work). However I guess you can no longer pick and choose what expansions you want to patch, it just gives you all of them. So if you only have up to PoP you will be patching for a day or so.. :(
 
okay im all patched up, but now i get error 303 while attempting to run the game with the sodpatcher (it completed its patching) but if i try to launch the game from that tool it gives me the 303 error, if i try to load the eq game with everquest, it fails to connect...

is there an ini file i need to modify to point to the game server like in World of Warcraft, if i change the serverrealmlist.wtf file to the private server i can play on them.
 
Did you install .Net on the machine? You need that to play otherwise you will get an error when you try to run the SoD patcher. If you get the error after the patcher has run and you are about to get into the game go into the Advanced section of SoD patcher and select Repatch All. 303 String missing errors are almost always a corrupt file that just needs to be repatched.
 
yes that was the first step i tried. I am downing the game from EQ's main web site, maybe that will work, my discs are very old (got it when it first came out)
 
The free download of the game wont work either because you will be missing key files needed to play SoD.
 
Your best bet with the new launchpad is to buy one of the cheaper collections (Titanium Edition is what everyone is recommending - sells for around $10 online) and then see my post here-

I wouldn't suggest buying the Anniversary Edition because it seems to have graphical problems with new armor models (which have been successfully reproduced on different machines) but any collection that gives you the files up to Gates of Discord will work fine with the process above. You should be able to pick one up without breaking the bank.
