Newbie/Adept AA

I'm still prety new to the mmorpg world and I've yet to get a character past 30 in any game that I'v played but I came up with a neat little idea.

What if we have AA's that you can start gaining experience for while you're still at a very low level, of course they would be pretty weak. Basically if you can't afford equipment to let you kill the current batch of monsters that you're on you can switch on the aaxp until you can take them.

An alternative to making it switchable would be to make adepts give a special kind of experience that goes towards these newb aa's. This way everyone who participates in an adept raid will get some kind of benefit rather than just those who win the roll.

Any thoughts on my idea?

I don't see why you would want AA exp over regular EXP when you're so low level. A completely twinked, AAed out 24 wizard will still have his ass kicked by a 29 wizard. At low levels, all you should be worrying about is leveling.

AA isn't an alternative to regular exp, it's in addition to regular exp. It was never ment for everyone, only for the high levels who can't go any higher in their normal levels that don't want to stagnate in skills. Without AA, once you hit 65 you'd pretty much retire elsewise.

As for the AA exp bonus on adepts. I agree. If you're going to spend hours trying to kill 1 mob that you don't get any loot off of, it would be awesome to at the very least get a shitload of EXP or something else.

I mean, raids are fun sometimes, don't get me wrong, but last night i spent a good 2 hours in the mielich b lord commander adept raid basically waiting for people to get to the zone, and then getting killed by all of the mobs around the adept. If I knew that if we killed the adept I might get some nice loot and get some really nice sort of guaranteed bonus, I would have been more inclined to stay.

My personal oppinion has always been that charactors should have ways of making themselves unique or different as they level. However, as you can imagine...branching skill sets, choice sets(you pick a skill A, B, or C and are stuck with that one from the set ONLY) are not only a pain to code im sure, but incredibly hard to balance.

What you have said seems like a slightly different approach, with small incriments in strength at lower levels. My recomendation would be instead of spending time killing and gaining experience so that you may kill stronger things(via mini-aa) to kill and save up loot/pp to buy better gear. At lower levels a few peices of equipment can mean THE WORLD of difference.
