New to SoD,advice?

hey guys.

I'm an EQ1 vet and i happend to search for a sort of "free EQ" and i found SoD

so,guessing that this game is completely different,what would be a few good classes to get a newbie going?

I'm going to ay that i love to heal,but also do some decent damage. I also dont mind utility classes (except bards,they made my fingers hurt )

I must also point out that i dont intend to box,mainly because id rather focus on just one toon

Bards don't have to twist anymore, so don't worry about your fingers

I'd highly recomend a druid from what you said. They are a great starter char, heal decently, and do decent damage as well, can solo pretty well, and are sought after as healers for groups.

I woudl also highly recomend you consider boxing, even if not most of the time, simply becuase it makes farming much easier. (If you do box, i'd highly recomend a bard to compliment the druid.)

If you do choose to play a tank, I would recomend leveling up a different char first so you can twink the tank, and have a feel of what the three different tanks are like in xp group/raid scenarios. Tanks require a lot more work than most classes earlier on to be considered for groups than dps or healers.

Eh, im not too great with spell casters. id rather be in the thick of things.

so would bards actually be fun in soD?

IMO. Focusing on one toon may at times be more of a challenge, but it can be easier in some ways as well, if you do it and like it. Play what you like.

I wanted to add on that playing whatever class you have a passion for is probably a good idea. My warrior was my first character and I didn't 2box my way up. I have a blast being a warrior!

yea same here only 'mage' instead of 'warrior' meet people and make friends you will go far no matter class

Mage is still the most fun for me too.
