New SoD Bard Questions

1. Do bard songs effect pets in the group?

2. Can only one DoT be going at the same time? I played in EQ live years ago and remember twisting
3 DOTs.

3. It seems like twisting is not needed now, however, do I need to use instruments to start certain songs? or do instruments just make the song effects more powerful?

4. Are there many good bard items in game? On live I remember having a sword with a percussion modifier, a mace with a brass modifier and a mask with a string modifier.

1. Yes.
2. You can twist 2 on SoD.
3. Twisting is needed to sing 2 offensive songs. The Melody lets you sing 2 beneficial songs without any twisting (along with the 2 offensive songs). I haven't found a song that NEEDS an instrument (like invis on live), but my bard's only 48 and hasn't actually sung all the songs he has. Instruments DO make songs more powerful.
4. Yes. There are instruments with modifiers, a shoulder item with +singing, a range item with +singing, and I'm sure many more that I don't know about due to my level of advancement in SoD.
 
There are a couple weapons with instrument mods, but you won't see them terribly early in the game.
 
You can actually play the same 2 dots on 2 different mobs, so technically have 4 dots going at once (while still having 2 buffs going) and can twist them that way.

There's a couple good bard items with instrument mods, but most of them go for kind of rediculous prices so I wouldn't anticipate encountering them for a while.
