New Recipes?

This is just my 2 cents, but at the moment I think tradeskills are pretty much obsolete in their usefulness, other than the obvious twinking. In the instance of Tailoring, the final best products that are produceable are Wyvernhide Armor and Wyrm Hide armor. Both of these are good yes, however as soon as one gets into a fairly good guild, raid loot is by far superior and the armor, which most people cannot afford until higher levels becomes useless. For jewel crafting, it is also the same case, jewlery from raid monsters is quite common, this is a good thing, however it is horrible for jewlery because a majority of jewlery that drops from raid monsters are alot better than what can be crafted at higher levels. Jewel Crafting is also extremely expensive and difficult to produce, as of the present there are only a handful of skilled jewel crafters, and probably only 1 or two active at the moment. Same goes with the new tradeskills of brewing and alchemy, both are indeed quite useful however, the consumer base of the products made form these two tradeskills are very small, and It is neither profitable nor efficient to actively work in any of these tradeskills. So what I'm basically asking is, Please! put in some new recipes that are useful even at the high end level, thanks for reading.

I dont agree, that tradeskills must be able to produce products that are better than raid quality loot, to be considered useful.

If you believe that the game doesnt start til you ahve a level 65 guild and kill significant raid targets, then tradeskills should indeed be a waste of time.

But some of us actually play the game all the way fro newbie and have fun with that.

I am guessing that 90% of all chars wear at least one piece of quipment that is player made. I have a hard time understanding how that can be considered obsolete.

I'm a 250 skill tailor and had/have access to a 250 skill jeweler and I damn well never did anything but twink with it so I'd say he's right.

Except diamond jewelry. That shit was gooood.

New Recipes

I'm not saying that tradeskill items should be better than raid loot, but rather better to the point that people will actually consider using the items as an alternative to their raid gear, as of now, when one has raid loot the thought of using tradeskill items crafted from tailoring, and jewelery, with the exception of diamond resist gear, is not even a thought that people have. I would also like to mention that tailoring lacks any beneficial recipes for int based casters. This would definitely have a positive effect on the economy of WR, because as I see it now, at higher levels people have alot of money and only on rare occasions do people sell equipment/goods that are useful to higher level players. As a result most people either turn to twinking a new alt or saving for that elusive 36k charm.

Hmm.

It seems to me that tailoring should be bumped, but not enough to compete with raid gear, certainly...

Gear available to casual players should not equal raid gear, ever.

Is there anyone that has figured out how to raise their alchemy skill past 145? About a month and a half ago I got to that level and haven't found a way to raise it since.

I heard something about Wany being hospitalized, only 6 of the 9 solvents were on the vendors, and lots of other rumors but nothing definitive. Can any developer or GM shed light on Alchemy?

Wany is buried in real life work, and alchemy was his baby, so someone needs to make a total look-over of the recipes.

one thing I would like to see as a tailor is some silk gear that I could make with the high end ointment. more than once an int caster has asked me to make them stuff.

This be planned.

Also after we finish Baking and fix up all problems with the old tradeskills we are going to add "high" combines with stuff from the top-end zones that produce good stuff.

*bump*
i'm not sure what you have planned, but that's a great idea.. having rare drops from high-end zones as recipe items, that way you combine tradeskills with raids to produce good gear.. I just thought it was annoying how the good recipe items on EQLive were no-drop.. they should be droppable!
