New Player question

REYED

Dalayan Beginner
Hello all. I just created my account and plan on installing the client tonight.

I've played the "the similar game" off and on since 2001.

Can anyone give me some direction in terms of demographics? I've played just about every class to 65 Plus in "the similar game" and I like them all. What classes are in short supply here, if any?

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I am still kinda new myself but I have seen alot of talk about Clerics being needed. Then Shaman in second place. That is what I am gathering, but I could be wrong. Best thing is to make something you enjoy playing alot and if you want to be included in alot of activity ask in game and make a different class toon (if your not already playing it).

What is needed really heavily depends on times you play tbh. Also depends on who is comfortable with botting what. Some classes are easier to bot than others. Ranger for example is not all that easy to bot and get good results with certain bows, if one's other class is also a very active class. Wizards go well with things seeing as they are fairly sedentary. Druids, mages, etc.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you though is if you're going to make any sort of decision based on what's short in terms of supply, don't go with dps. Just more dps classes than probably anything else on a class to class basis, so it can be difficult to find groups early on before one kinda gets involved with the community enough where one just doesn't bother to ooc anymore and just sends tells to friends or makes a group. Healers tend to be muuuuuchly appreciated early on, and you pretty much don't have much of a group without one. I'd probably suggest one of those classes, or perhaps a paladin.

I play at euro hours, and it seems pretty much the contrary: I can't find DPS classes. Some will say there are too many bards in the game, still we can't find any for our guild. Play what you want, because in the time you'll be 65, all of these perceptions will be changed by the "waves" of new players.
There are trends however: mages are heavily played till 65, and heavily abandonned by then by lack of raid utility (I have yet to remember when I have grouped with a mage on a good 65+ exp group). There are tons of necros around because they are so powerfull, and allow you to level all your way solo if that's what you want...
