Hello, just wondering if this version of the game is populated enough (even if only at peak times) to allow freshly starting players to find groups regularly?

I hope to play an enchanter, or warrior (my eqlive class) and while soloing is fine some of the time, i cant STNAD IT after awhile.

thank!!!!

It cycles alooooot. Sometimes, yes. Sometimes No. Set yourself up with a boxing combo tbh. This way you can progress without the need for others if none are available at the time.

You shouldn't have any problem at all. You will be most likely to pick something up camping the entrance of a dungeon appropriate to your level.

No idea in comparison to live.. but my first toon took me about 10 days. now that I know what im doing, alts take 4-6 days depending on class.

Well that's good to hear =)...How long does levelling take? In comparison to live etc. ?

from when i played on live its much much faster. Then again you can box and duo up to 65 pretty easily without having to sit around wasting time LFG and i'm sure that speeds it up.
the new area xp bonus & zone bonus is also great

edit: blackburrow & Warrens are like exactly the same as live so you can start off in some familiar zones if you want to.

I'm pretty new - max level is 19 - and I get invited to groups quite often unsolicited. Then again, I'm a drunk ogre, and people seem to like that*, so your mileage might vary.

* Probably because we don't mind (or don't notice) dying

Cool thanks for all the replies. i guess i hadnt fully realized just HOW customized the server is; quests that are actually worth doing for the EXPERIENCE rewards etc. that ive just been reading about.

Actually...i had emu for awhile a couple years back, and this seems to be even more appealing yet. a classic-style FEEL, yet with all this brand new content.

But meh, right now im sittin on 42% @ about 100 kb/s. So, if all goes to plan, ill be able to login tommorow afternoon.

Too bad this hadnt crossed my mind a month ago when i got laid-off. I've been bored out of my mind...now tommorow morning i have a REAL job interview of course. But hey, if i get the job, at least ill have an excuse to indulge myself to the extent that i already know i will be...haha

hi, does anyone know where can i download a copy of the EQ client?

I read from SOD wiki that the EQ patcher method to download the full client does not work anymore...

Former EQ player here, hopes to join SoD :)

Thanks!

As per the starting guide:

http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/intro_starting.htm

Buy either:
List of compatible ********* expansion packs (with Amazon links)
  1. *********: Titanium (MINIMUM)
  2. *********: Anniversary Edition

SoD supports buying the client, and does not tolerate any talk of pirating it.

i used to have 3 EQ1 accounts (myself, my gf and my bro. I paid for all 3 of them) but when I quitted the game, I dumped the disc, never thought that I'll be needing them again. So I dont think Im really pirating, since I did bought 3 copies of it and played for years before moving on to EQ2 and subsequently WoW.

I managed to find one installation disc earlier, the Shadows of Luclin. Can I install that and use the patcher to download the rest of the expansions?

Thanks.

I strongly suggest picking up a copy of *********: Anniversary Edition.

It took about 10 minutes to load up the game, and then a quick 1-2 minute SoD patch and POOF your in the game ready to rumble in any zone.

Its great to have if you ever need to reinstall the game on a new computer or due to file corruption etc. Much handier then having the old Classic, Kunark, Luclkin, PoP blah blah single CDs.

Honestly... is 15ish Dollars really that much to spend to play SoD and have the prefect back-up files??

If its only $15, it wont be an issue. But the thing is, i don live in USA, I cant just go and buy it in stores. The shipping fees of ordering from Amazon cost quite abit more than the game itself...
