New Patcher?

I have not played in well over a year. I am attempting to run the patcher and it is not getting past "Getting Patch List." Do I need to download a new patcher, is the patch server down, or am I completely hosed in another way?

Thank you to all who helped me, here is what I learned:

-Yes, there is a brand new patcher. If you have not played in a while, you will need to download the new one from the "Files" link on the main page at www.shardsofdalaya.com
-There is a web based IRC link at the top of this very forum where people will be very helpful
-There are cat people now, and if you make one and roleplay that you are actually a cat people will think you are weird.
